This letter to faculty and staff was previously sent by President Beheruz N. Sethna about a meeting scheduled on Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 3 p.m. The location of the meeting is Room 3 in the Education Center.
As part of my opening remarks at the Meeting of the General Faculty, I shared some of the latest budget news that I had heard just a day before. When I introduced the topic, I did mention that while neither the time available nor the format of a General Faculty meeting was conducive to a Q&A session, we all recognize that such a Q&A is always useful and important. So, I promised to invite colleagues to an open meeting that would be largely Q&A and discussion.
Members of the Faculty Senate Budget Committee and I have had some e-mail conversations about the timing of such an open meeting. While we could have it this week, the prevailing (indeed unanimous, among those who responded) opinion was to have it on the 18th since the Board of Regents meets on the 17th and 18th, and that way we would know what their budget deliberations and decisions are.
So, in that light, you are invited to an optional-attendance meeting on the 18th at 3 p.m. on the topic of the latest budget news and the implications for the University of West Georgia.
Beheruz N. Sethna
