Celebrate UWG’s Heritage with Homecoming on the Square

It’s almost time for Homecoming and UWG is teaming up with Carrollton Main Street to celebrate in a new way. On Friday, Oct. 1 Adamson Square will be packed with students, alumni, Carrollton residents and anyone else who wants to take part in celebrating with food, games, music and much more.

Several downtown eateries and businesses will be participating in the event, including Sam’s House, a barbeque restaurant that is booking a jazz band for the occasion.

“We’re very excited about being a part of the event,” said Wylene Williams, a member of the Sam’s House team and a 1971 West Georgia grad. “It’s a great way to connect UWG with the community and I hope it becomes a part of the Homecoming tradition.”

Beginning at 6 p.m., Wolves football players and cheerleaders will lead a pep rally to pump up the crowd. At 7 p.m., there will be even more Wolves-mania with Spirit on the Square, which offers fun for the whole family. At 8 p.m., the party continues with lots of great music from local bands.

The next day, attendees can find an outlet for all that energy by cheering on the Wolves as they take on Southern Arkansas in University Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.

During the Friday evening festivities, the square will be closed to traffic, but parking will be available in the surrounding lots and the city parking decks.
