I Am West GeorgiaName: Farryn Valderramos
What I really do: Lecture, grade, write, create, research. Years at UWG: Three months (started in August). Before UWG, I: Taught Spanish and English as a Second Language in Florida. One thing I would change about UWG: Offer midnight classes. I was born in: Indiana. Family members are: There are too many to name! People describe me as: Creative, flexible, focused and ambitious. Most colleagues don’t know that: I play the viola. Favorite things to do: Write, read, dance and travel. Favorite quote: “What will be for you, will be.” Proudest accomplishment so far: I am very adventurous and love to travel. I have successfully made it a goal to travel to another location at least once a month, and so far, so good! Pet peeve: Inconsiderate people. Best advice ever received: “Just keep on living” – my great aunt. Best advice for new faculty and staff: Branch out of your comfort zone and meet others from other departments. What I most want to contribute to students: A passion for learning due to pure curiosity without regard to grades. The book everyone should read: The Color Purple. The movie everyone should watch: Just one? The person, dead or alive, I’d most like to meet: My maternal and paternal grandmothers. The place I’d love to travel to where I haven’t been yet: Brazil and Italy. Although you didn’t ask, I’d like to tell you anyway: I speak three languages (English, Spanish and Portuguese) and am working on a fourth one (French).
