Publications and Printing, UWG’s on-campus copy and printing center, recently received 11 first place awards for print excellence from the Printing Industry Association of Georgia. The largest state printing competition in the nation attracted 770 entries from 42 printing and imaging companies and seven schools. UWG staff members most directly involved in printing the winning works were Eddie Rogers, printing services supervisor; Keith Harris and Carlos Olvera, senior offset pressmen; and graphic artists Debby Holcombe of Publications and Printing, and Teresa Pyron of University Communications and Marketing.
Dr. Jim Burton (Marketing and Real Estate) led a workshop on “Enhancing Self Confidence” for the 2010 Carroll County Chamber of Commerce Leadership Academy on May 11 at the Burson Center in Carrollton.
Dr. Danilo M. Baylen, associate professor, and Dr. Cristine G. Goldberg, assistant professor, from the Department of Media and Instructional Technology, are co-authors of two articles, “Visual Literacy Meets Asian Culture: Images in Selected Picture Books” and “Be Not Afraid: Connecting Visual Principles and Emotions.” They were published in Critically Engaging the Digital Learner in Visual Worlds and Virtual Environments: Selected Readings of the International Visual Literacy Association (2010).
