Web WatchThere were a lot of questions when we returned to campus after January’s snow/ice break. But perhaps one of the most pressing questions was: “is that food I left in the refrigerator still good?” If your brown bag goodies were on a refrigerator shelf for more than a week, chances are they weren’t. But the stuff in the freezer had a better chance. The StillTasty website can help you figure out what to keep and what to toss the next time you wonder, “What is that? Is it still good?” For example, the site tells you that freshly baked corn bread lasts one to two days in the pantry and one week in the refrigerator. But if you freeze it, it can last up to three months. If you have ever wondered if you can freeze cheese, the site has an answer. It also gives you tips on how to store chocolate leftovers from Valentine’s Day. You can e-mail comments, questions and suggestions to comments@stilltasty.com. And, yes, there’s an iPhone App for the site. Web Watch is an occasional feature that spotlights sites of interest. E-mail your site suggestions for publication consideration to yolanda@westga.edu.
