I Am UWG

Xiaojuan Christian

Xiaojuan Christian is UWG.Job title: Coordinator of Visual Services.

What I really do: I shoot and edit video and photo projects to create compelling quality visual content to support UCM and UWG branding efforts.

Years at UWG: I started working at UWG in July 2012.

Before UWG, I: Worked as a video editor and photographer at FOX-KRBK TV in Springfield, Missouri.

One thing I would change about UWG: We need a swimming pool.

I was born in: Shanghai, China.

Family members are: My everything. I am blessed to have my loving husband; he understands where I came from and supports me 100% in what I do. In my spare time I enjoy hanging out with my family. My daughter is 17 months old and she is just the cutest little thing to me.

People describe me as: Outgoing and fun.

Most colleagues don’t know that: I swam for 18 years and I also graduated from Shanghai Sports University with a B.S. degree in Sports Science.

Favorite things to do: Cooking, shopping, travelling and photography.

Favorite quote: “The Lord takes care of me as his sheep, I will not be without any good thing. He makes a resting-place for me in the green fields, He is my guide by the quiet waters. He gives new life to my soul, He is my guide in the ways of righteousness because of his name.” -Psalms: 23:1-3

Proudest accomplishment so far: Represented China and won World’s Junior Swimming Championship.

Pet peeve: PeOpLe WhO tYpE LiKe ThIs.

Best advice ever received: Learning is a treasure that will follow its owner everywhere.

Best advice for new faculty and staff: West Georgia is not just a place for degrees. It’s a land full of opportunities to make students become tomorrow’s leaders.

What I most want to contribute to students:  I want to use my knowledge and abilities to help students have a better experience on campus.

The book everyone should read: "Eat Pray Love."

The movie everyone should watch: "Love Actually."

The person, dead or alive, I’d most like to meet: David Beckham.

The place I’d love to travel to where I haven’t been yet: Bora Bora.

Although you didn’t ask, I’d like to tell you anyway:

  • I usually don't get jokes (American jokes) but I laugh anyway.
  • When people pronounce my name wrong (90% of the time), I tell them they are correct.
  • I don’t know how to make orange or General chicken.
