Dr. David Jenks, the interim chairman of the Department of Criminology, traveled to Buenos Aires this summer for an invitation-only conference of the International Police Executive Symposium (IPES), a meeting of law enforcement officers and scholars.

Dr. Rebecca Stanard shot this picture of a woodpecker in her backyard. “I've been trying to get a photo of this gal for a while. She is very shy and always got away before I could get a good picture of her. This is what success looks like!”

She shot this photo as part of the 365project in which participants shoot and post pictures daily. She’s been shooting for about six years.

“It relaxes me,” she said. “It helps me see the world in a different way.”

Stanard is a professor of counseling and program coordinator for the counselor education program in the Department of Collaborative Support and Intervention.

A former photographer for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Sharp headed back home to Texas in 2008.

He’s still shooting.

UWG flameBattling Baseball’s Decline in Puerto Rico

The storied winter league in Puerto Rico has shrunk as baseball has ebbed into decline on the island. Four years ago the season was canceled, but this year four teams are playing. None is in San Juan, the capital, however.
