A UWG delegation of faculty members will make
the long flight to Japan to visit the Kagoshima University
May 9 - 17 as part of the International Exchange Program
at West Georgia.
International Exchange Program heads to Japan
UWG faculty members are on an education mission and packing
up for a trip to Japan. One of the many objectives of the delegation
is to visit Kagoshima
University in
Kagoshima,
Japan, and
continue the university’s International Exchange Program
with Kagoshima faculty and students. Dr. Bill Schaniel, professor
of economics and director of International Programs, is coordinating

Chowns receives Distinguished Scholar
Award
Dr.
Tim Chowns, professor of geology, received the Distinguished Scholar
Award, the highest honor the College of Arts and Sciences bestows
upon a faculty member.
The College presented Chowns, who devotes his academic life
to research with undergraduate students, an award of $1000,
a plaque and a public forum to share his experiences in
a lecture presentation. MORE

McRae to attend Bucknell, Davidson offers thoughts on program's
success
Dr. Chad Davidson, associate professor of English, and other
faculty members in the Department of English and Philosophy,
lend whatever support students need
when it comes to creativity and darn good writing. After the
brief article on Nick McRae, Davidson gives a short summary

The American Cancer Society and Carroll County teamed up to host the
15th annual Carroll County Relay for Life. The University of West Georgia
was proud to represent the campus community, with 26 participants
taking part in the memorable occasion.

The last University Club Social of the year ended with live
music, dancing and good conversation. The annual outdoor event featured
a banquet of picnic fare under a tent in the beautiful gardens of the
Alumni House. more

Four UWG alumni will serve as speakers at the commencement ceremonies

Cary Ichter and Carlianne Patrick
