Chambers Receives Award for Thesis
Helen Chambers, degree program specialist for the College of Education, received the Award for Excellence in Documenting Georgia’s History for her master’s thesis “From Community Center to Memory: The Oak Mountain One-Room School and Norman Rockwell.”
Chambers worked with colleagues in the COE to develop the much-celebrated exhibit of the Oak Mountain School after she discovered Rockwell’s painting and two photographs of the schoolroom in storage as a graduate student. She wrote her thesis on the painting because she considered it “the window into American Culture.” MORE

UWG Water Resource Conference Coming
The university will host its second annual UWG Water Resources Conference on Thursday, Feb. 21, and Friday, Feb. 22, in the Campus Center Ballroom. Students have free admission both days including a complimentary dinner Thursday evening.

The Responsible Sexuality Committee will observe V-Day’s 10th anniversary with performances of “The Vagina Monologues” on Feb. 13, and Feb. 14, at 8:30 p.m. in the Campus Center Ballroom.
After a three-year hiatus, UWG will host a Physics Demonstration Night: Smash Physics for students and adults in the community on Feb. 15, at 7 p.m. in the Crider Lecture Hall.
