Campus EPA Audit Scheduled for March
The Risk Management/Environmental Safety and Health And Safety (RM/EHS) office announced that West Georgia will be the first of three universities in the state to conduct a voluntary self audit in compliance of the “College and University Compliance Initiative.”
The initiative between the Board of Regents and the US Environmental Protection Agency allows UWG facilities and operations to be voluntarily audited and violations disclosed to the EPA. In return, the EPA has agreed to substantially reduce or waive the fines and penalties that would normally be assessed. MORE

UWG Community Remembers Arons
Dr. Myron “Mike” Arons, professor of psychology emeritus and founder of the UWG humanistic psychology program, passed away Feb. 18 in Carrollton.
A memorial service and gathering will be held at Kathy Cashen Recital Hall in the Humanities Building on the UWG Campus at 4:00 p.m. Friday, February 22. In lieu of flowers, the family requested contributions be made to the Mike Arons Humanistic Psychology Scholarship in care of the University of West Georgia Foundation, Inc.

Voices from the Front
Major Margaret Miller Weitzel is the daughter of Grace Miller and retired professor emeritus of business Dr. Mark Miller, founder of the business program, business department and school at West Georgia. Weitzel is serving as a Marine in Iraq.
Major Weitzel graduated from Carrollton High School in 1984 with a scholarship in classical voice at West Georgia College.

Research Day 2008 will show off the efforts of undergraduate students putting forth that extra energy into their studies. Their work will be displayed and demonstrated throughout the campus on Thursday, March 6.
Cities and Memory, an exhibit by renowned artist Allen Peterson, is on view at the Main Gallery at UWG through April 3.
