A creamy Cheese Brulée with Vanilla Strawberries helped UWG Aramark Executive Chef Rodney Ridley to win first place and a gold medal in the Aramark Higher Education ACE Competition. Seven chefs plied a panel of judges, which included UWG staff members, with three course meals in a bid to go to the nationals.
UWG Chef Takes Top Prize
Executive Chef Rodney Ridley at UWG won first place in the Aramark Higher Education ACE Competition held at Z-6. The Southern Regional Aramark Culinary Excellence Team awarded Ridley a gold medal in the Regional ACE Competition.
Ridley, a graduate of the Art Institute of Atlanta, competed against chefs from universities across the south. His winning menu of Shrimp and Vidalia Onion Wonton, Bourbon Chicken stuffed with pecan butter and a Cheese Brulée with vanilla strawberries dazzled the panel of judges.

Powell Named Honors Professor of the Year
Dr. Bobby Powell, professor and chair of physics and director of the West Georgia Observatory, was named Honors Professor of the Year. Powell’s service to the university spans 41 years and has amassed a lifetime of accomplishments and honors.
Honors Council President Miranda Byrd presented the award to Powell.

Scrimmage Showcases Football Talent
The combined support of private fundraising and an approved student fee have generated $24 million out of the proposed $29 million Athletic Complex project. UWG faculty and staff are contributing to the effort and the Faculty/Staff fundraising drive culminates with the Wolves Spring Scrimmage on April 19.
