Fall 2009 Distance Education Survey (Student Comments)

Question 25:  What suggestions would you make for future online courses?

·         none

·         This course is put together quite well and the professor does an excellent job.

·         none

·         none

·         I would have preferred using course den to organize the material rather than email--very hard to keep up with all of the emails and organize them by section. It would be really nice to have a folder for each week with the assignments and notes/comments related to the material right there.

·         I think you could reduce the amount of typing and work.

·         Short-cuts and anticipated problems would be helpful.

·         None

·         Offer more classes totally online, especially in education and business.

·         None

·         To have the professor actually have a link to her showing us how to do some of the new material.  This way we could actually watch someone do a sample assignment ad then the students could do a simliar assignment from the lessons in the book.

·         Try to find and utilize a textbook that has easier to follow instructions, and possibly includes a CD or DVD with practice quizzes, tests, and/or visual examples of more difficult to understand concepts (pictures and/or video clip(s))

·         Have the teacher available on line for help during certain times.

·         Quicker response time on email questions.

·         Students should still have access to the standard evaluation forms.  You will not receive an accurate representation of how the students really feel about this course with the questions asked on this survey.  I am angered that we were mislead by Ms. Smith to believe that the online evaluation would be the same as the traditional forms.  If possible, it would be great to mail each student a standard form to complete and mail back.  Only then will true sentiments be shared.

·         Nothing.

·         do not schedule maintenance on the weekend.

·         I love online courses, but this technology course does need to meet some during the semester because it is hard.

·         none

·         I will not suggest that anyone take this class from this instructor.  She never answered emails in a timely manner.  She was forgetful and did not post things that she said that she would.  She would say that a study session was going to be on a certain day but never told us where or what time.  She would inform us of things last minute.  She postponed a test 1 hour before we were to be at school to take it.  I feel that my time is as important as her's and did not appreciate the last minute changes.

·         More practice problems and material.

·         none

·         Make more classes available on-line

·         Just keep try to offer more online courses.

·         Even though they are online, they can still be ineteresting and fun.

·         To have a 'ask for help' box where students may ask the professor questions about homework and will receive help right away.

·         Don't make deadlines at 5pm when other classes are still going on.

·         Find out if there is an on-campus version. Find out how much it cost because it is more than likely way more than on-campus classes. Find out about the test format and how many.

·         nothing to suggest at this time

·         Have fewer face to face meetings.  Those of us who need online courses have a lot of difficulty getting to UWG.  Plus the face to face work can be completed online just as well.

·         It went well...I can't think of anything that really stands out.

·         Nothing additional to add. Your online classes are well managed and Dr. *** is a dream teacher.

·         I like simplicity when it comes to the layout of certain course materials and assignments. It is hard to find items when there is several modules.

·         it was great, no suggestions.

·         I see the value of the schema, but I'm not very spatially-oriented, and the end product looks more confusing to me than helpful.  I would prefer a different model but don't know what type.

·         nothing

·         Less discussion

·         Try and make them all have 0 face to face meetings, like this one.

·         Keep everything online.

·         other than the above ... none

·         i don't know

·         Keep all the same learning material

·         They are a very excellent way of offerring individuals who already consume a family and career an opportunity of effectively learning and gaining skill.

·         N/A

·         None

·         None

·         none

·         None, it was a great experience and very helpful. I enjoyed it.

·         none

·         None, my instructor was very nice and helpful and communicated well with us through e-mail.

·         There are no suggestions.

·         Updated syllabus

·         None.

·         All assignment should be due on Sundays and not throughout the week. It is easier when you work 40 hours a week to do most of the work on the weekends.

·         I would like to see more courses offered online.

·         make the assignment instructions more understandable

·         I would not change anything about this course.

·         They are more advantageous to people who work fulltime. I tend to enjoy the classroom atmosphere more.

·         Overall it was a great experience taking my first online course.  Some of it was challenging, but the majority of it was understandable and the teacher did a great job helping out.  I would suggest that for the information given prior to a test, for it to contain some more specific information so the tests will be a little more manageable.

·         no suggestions

·         It would be wonderful if I never had to come to campus to sign up for more classes. The professors are jerks, if I never had to speak to another I would be grateful. Especially since they believe we are a waste of their precious time.

·         none

·         keep improving on what they have

·         none

·         clerify things better

·         Having the dates of all assignments, quizzes, and tests posted at the start of the course. This helps students prioritize each task, especially when a students is in multiple courses.

·         The workbook was pricy.  Maybe the class workbook could be made available online to print instead of buying it through the UWG Bookstore.

·         N/A

·         Allow testing to be done online

·         Please make sure your intructions are current.

·         none

·         none.

·         N/A

·         Get rid of the workbooks and in class exams that are completely ridiculous

·         Offer more online classes and don't charge a fee for online classes because some class are only online and you cant choose whether or not to take that class.  Ecore is one thing but if the university itself offers a class through webct is shouldnt cost students a tuition fee and then an online tuition fee.

·         make more classes available on-line

·         make exam time limits longer

·         nothing

·         List due dates in Syllabus.

·         its good how it is

·         Informational on distance learning and other resources if any that students can use for online courses or in general.

·         nothing

·         none

·         this was a good class.

·         That the instructor be more informative.

·         none i am completely satisfied

·         Offer more study problems that pertain to exactly what is being taught, not just word problems.

·         This class allowed assignments to be submitted each week by Sunday, this is agreat help to people who work full time.

·         have atleast one day during reasonable hours that we can come in and receive help

·         I feel that with a course like this, the steps to conclude the problems is a MAJOR MAJOR aspect to getting these questions correct in this course.  IF you don't understand how to actually work the problem, or have a question regarding a certain step in the process of solving the problem you are on your own if you can't figure it out.  If you don't understand the proper steps, the answers to the sample problems are doing NOTHING for you.

·         None

·         dont know

·         None

·         more interactive

·         I prefer instant feedback on questions missed, not just the number missed. That helps me to learn. This course did a really good job of that, but not all courses provide this.

·         N/A

·         Clear up some instructions

·         I think all online courses should have video tutorials like this one.  This course could improve by adding a list of who is logged in at any given time with the ability to 'chat' (this feature is already part of eCore and CourseDen)

·         Make sure the students know it is online and that they have an aptitude for taking such a class online.  For some reason people have a great misconception of the personal requirements and dedication required to take an online class.

·         make explanations easier and not just teach off excel

·         Totally online like Stats One with Patron she was awesome and her online materials made since and they helped you as well

·         Have all information about the course (due dates, grades, special meeting times, etc.) figured out and posted at the beginning of the course.

·         none

·         There should be a component of the on-line class that sends out a reminder to students that have not completed specific assignments.

·         nothing

·         none at this time.

·         none in mind as of this time.

·         Make sure information for class locations are posted in a timely manner.

·         None at this time.

·         none

·         None

·         There were way too many issues with the UWG site. I sometimes wondered if my professors were receiving assignments and/or comments.

·         none at the time

·         Nothing

·         increase opportunity with mixed classes

·         nothing

·         There were a lot of 'technical' difficulties that caused some confusion.

·         no suggestions

·         Clarity and consistency in use of the computer system.

·         None

·         none

·         None.

·         The extra cost should be done away with.  I don't understand why it cost me an extra $600 for two online classes.

·         none

·         Face-to-face options

·         Nothing

·         Do not make us pay for silly charges that are applicable to things like campus activity fees, etc. that no one needs or uses.  I appreciated that we met as a class only once.  But the fees that are constantly being added to on-line courses are ridiculous.

·         I have no complaints

·         This particular course is great for the online experience, but there are some classes that are not conducive to online learning.

·         Assignment and session alerts.

·         Keeping a flexible schedule works really well.  It is nice for teachers to set up a schedule as a guide and then let the students work at their own paces.  With the flexible schedule and only a few ultimate due dates (the end of the semester and final and midterms), some students will work to get ahead.  It also takes a lot of pressure off and makes the class more enjoyable.

·         a definite syallbi with due dates

·         A study guide for the midterm and final.

·         Require zero face to face meetings! While, Dr. *** was a clear and engaging speaker, the required face to face meeting for this class was not valuable to me. All information presented was available on the CourseDen Course page. Felt this meeting was a waste of my time.

·         None.

·         maybe have a once a month meeting or something.

·         N/A

·         nothing

·         nothing

·         For this course, maybe have all the lectures in class. And do them all within the first few weeks of the semester. Then let the student do the work and all the supplemental reading and such on their own. But I think having that physical lecture time will be beneficial to those that learn better that way. The in class lectures could be optional to attend for those that want it!

·         None, this was the only on-line course I have ever taken and I found it fairly easy to keep up with the work and find the sources I needed.

·         Don't have any.

·         none

·         For all of the teachers to go through some kind of training as to how to organized items on Webct and how to lay things out the way Dr. **** did. I didn't even have to go to his office unless there was a quiz question that I just didn't get, but I never had to go because I didn't know how to do something or assignments were confusing or due dates were conflicting. It was just the absolute best experience that I've had with an online course!!

·         none

·         I have no suggestions.

·         went to face-to-face class

·         N/A

·         nothing

·         Course Den should be more user friendly while taking test  and exams. It should be convinient for use evem from home.

·         none

·         Excellent course

·         nothing

·         Let this professor teach the others on how to be effective online.  Dr. **** really goes above and beyond by making available presentations and problem solving exercises online.

·         nothing

·         more on line courses

·         Keep up the good work.

·         nothing

·         I suugest that these online classes keep up what they do.

·         Improve the Exercises portion of the course to include more 'here's why we do this... here's how and why this works ... here's why this is the best way' type information.  Too often the exercise seemed like a 'cookbook' routine that was lacking in practical information about what I was really doing.  Also, improve online grading.

·         nothing

·         better instructions

·         For future on-line courses maybe provide a professor who like to communicate with the students.

·         none

·         This course was perfect because it did not require discussions.  The discussions are mostly a waste of time because they are not as informative as studying, yet they take a lot of time.

·         Offer them as in-class courses in addition to the option for online.

·         none

·         N/A

·         N/A

·         none

·         None

·         Have deadlines that teachers must submit each grade by.

·         Better Communication

·         Have a grade turn around time!

·         Make them in class where you can access your teacher.

·         For the teacher to communicate with the students and not be absent for over a month!

·         I can't think of any.

·         Find a new teacher, she would disappear for weeks at a time. She WILL NOT return emails! Was never in her office. She is not the right kind of person to teach online classes.

·         none right now

·         less tedious assignment.

·         Teacher that is available

·         n/a

·         none

·         If you don't need an instuctor to teach you something it probably shouldn't be a course.

·         Above, I want e-mail warnings about changes and due dates.

·         Don't know enough to make such a call.

·         Less assignments so grades can be more prompt.

·         Send out monthly surveys to the students to see if the teacher is doing her job!

·         keep in contact with your teacher

·         The professor and students need to have a better communication with each other. I feel that a professor for an online class should make a point to respond to/check his/her emails on a regular basis to ensure that the students are doing ok.

·         Instructors need to answer emails.  It's an online course.

·         If UWG is going to offer online courses they should make sure the teacher teaching the class is going to be ready to help students with their work!

·         To make sure the teachers are properly taking care of their classes and if soemthing is going on the students are imformed instead of sitting at home not knowing waht is going on and have the teachers make sure they are communicating with their students when the students e-mail and send chat invitations and the teacher does not respond.

·         Make directions clear for assignments.

·         None.

·         On-line classes are fine, they are convenient.

·         n/a

·         none

·         Have the instructors aware of when the system will be doing upgrades that way the students are not left trying to make up time.

·         I feel that this course was very well organized and set up in a manner that made it easy to understand what assignments were due and when.  I am not sure I would make any sugestions for future on-line courses.

·         None

·         None. This is the only UWG online course I have ever taken and I felt that is was wonderful.

·         Nothing...

·         None

·         Would like more feedback on the assignments completed.

·         Make sure the links work.

·         Have instructors available or other knowledgeable person that can help solve difficulties as they arise.

·         Provide instructions/rubric for completing projects, especially when involving the use of technology, especially since it is a technology class, speak slower in the video tutorials, provide video tutorials that can be paused and rewound.

·         None

·         Quicker response to emails.

·         Dr. **** modules are set up well with an appropriate amount of work inside each module.  Dr. ****is helpful and flexible.  I have registered for more classes with Dr.***** due to his teaching style. I have learning a great deal.

·         I dont agree that this particular course should be an online course.

·         The professors should have more help communicating with students due to the sheer number of students

·         I feel like Dr.*** has ironed out most of the issues for his class, and if something comes up he comes up with an alternative rather quickly.

·         I think this course would be better if it was a half online and half face-to-face course. This way other students can learn from each others knowledge and learn from the professor. Please do not make this class a totally online class. I enjoyed meeting face to face the one time we did to interact with the teacher and my other classmates. If this class will continue to be a mostly online course the teacher should do more online live lecture or recorded lectures and be more involved in the students' learning.

·         None

·         SAM

·         This was the best online course I've taken.

·         I wouldn't have required so many tests from the book and from the SAM software.  I also would not have made both finals a requirement in addition to the class presentation.

·         I would suggest that there be a few more in person meetings to address any difficulties or assignments that may be a bit more tedious to complete.

·         None. This class was run very well. I had no problems.

·         none

·         Make this course face-to-face

·         The course itself had a number of discussion sites for us to make recommendations to the professor.  I would recommend that all professors include this type of communication.  One may think there instructions are clear, but they may not be clear to everyone, for example.

·         None

·         Create at least one group project where students are placed in groups by the professor.

·         I would suggest giving more flexibility with the F2F classes. Also not so many field experience forms would lessen confusion. Make sure all assignments are posted on the calendar. Reconsider to lessen the work load as many of us work full time and have children. It becomes very difficult to keep up the pace with so much work due weekly.

·         None

·         Reminders for assignment due dates

·         NA

·         Require zero face to face meetings! A webcam was required for this class. I felt that all face to face meetings could have been conducted via this means of communication.  Face to face meetings I attended were not valuable to me. Felt they were a waste of my time!

·         dont know

·         Maybe streamline the information more, so students don't have to jump around so much to find information. Have dates agree each place an assignment is listed.

·         None

·         Course structure needs to be checked for good online practices before it is started or given to students.

·         The design needs to be consistent and pre-planned.

·         none; already well-organized

·         A suggestion would be to keep all assignment due dates on a public calendar so it is available and everyone is on the same page.

·         I really like the student discussion boards that are not necessarily monitored by the teacher.  Very helpful.

·         Keep doing what you are doing

·         I would recommend that on-line classes be all on-line without having to travel.

·         Keep having online courses. They are so helpful to busy professionals.

·         nothing.

·         none

·         keep it simple

·         Fewer face to face meetings.Fewer charges for on-line courses.

·         use of on line chats and interactive lessons/practice sessions

·         More face to face classes

·         Nothing.

·         NA

·         none

·         The 3 face to face classes defeat the purpose of online classes!  On the day of my face to face I work eight hours, drive three hours to Carrollton, sit through a two hour class, and then drive three hours back home.  If I wasnt so far into the program I would look for something else.  I would love to complete my Specialist at West Ga but I can not do the Face to Face classes.  Why not give students the option of actually attending the face to face or doing the class on the cam?

·         None

·         Check discussion board between students and comment on accuracy of responses.

·         Provide face-to-face classes for all cources.

·         No issues with it the way it is now.

·         None

·         Make the class all on line

·         Having a more comprehensive training session prior to enrollment in an online degree.

·         Fewer face-to face meetings. No fees for things not related to on-line classes. UWG campus fees are making me re-think my choice of grad school.

·         I feel that for some assignments the instructions were not clear.  I was then given a low grade and asked to redo the assignment.  I appreciate the opportunity to redo an assignment; however, this was very difficult because I would spend entire Saturdays completing the assignment in the first place.  I feel that if the directions were clearly stated, then I wouldn't have had this problem.

·         I would suggest not having so many field experience forms. Also to allow more flexibility with the F2F sessions. Have one place for students to check for directions and what's due and when. Also to lessen the course work load as many of us have children and work full time.

·         Better new student preparation for online courses.  Need a more hands-on orientation.

·         Update the my UWG email.  It is very slow, doesn't delete, hard to navigate.  I really disliked it.

·         Streamlined organization

·         more (optional) online chats

·         none

·         Nothing

·         N/A

·         Make them all online

·         Course work to be due at 11:59 p.m.

·         None

·         none

·         none

·         keep it simple

·         WestGA needs not give this exact same survey for each class in a semester.  The questions will result in the same answer -these questions are not course specific, so this survey only needs to be given one time.  This is redundant for students who take more than one class.

·         I'm really enjoying the online courses in my program and have no suggestions in this area at the moment.

·         I think if there are two or more instructors, decisions about who is grading what should be made BEFORE the term begins.

·         Nothing stands out; it went well.

·         None at the moment.

·         no suggestions, this format is great for me

·         Monitor discussion board so students know if the answer given by other students was correct.

·         Have them 100% online

·         Have more face-to-face classes for cources.

·         It would be nice if professors somewhat had some guidelines to follow when setting up there webpages.  It would make it easier for students to find assignments, etc.

·         n/a

·         Make them 100% online or 1 f2f meeting

·         none

·         I would suggest grading the assignments in a timely manner

·         None

·         Make classes all on-line

·         I would like more scheduled online audio and/or video chats.

·         The chat option did not work well for me at all.

·         Keep having online courses. They are wonderful!

·         none

·         Less students enrolled in a class would allow more time for professors to follow up with questions.

·         none

·         n/a

·         No face to face meetings

·         I recommend no group work.

·         The face-to-face meetings sometimes seem pointless.  The things discussed could be done online.

·         I wish that the due 'time' for assignments was univerally 11:59 p.m.  I had one professor who didn't go with the norm and instead had a due 'time' of 10:59 p.m.  Other than that, my experiences have for the most part been positive.

·         make them 100% online or at least only 1 f2f

·         Everything is fine.

·         nothing

·         None at this time.

·         none

·         Dr.**** should not send email with an atitude to the entire class when a selected few have issues with the deadlines or other parts of the class.  She should deal with those specific people individually.

·         More face-to-face classes for help

·         No face-to-face meetings.  Maybe one per course at the beginning of the semester.

·         Nothing

·         Whenever possible, I would recommend only having one professor / course.  It can be very ackward and difficult to figure out who you should 'approach' with questions.

·         nothing

·         nothing

·         All fine

·         Nothing additional. UWG is great.

·         None at this time.

·         Limit the on campus visits to just one or none.  It is very difficult to work all day, drive 2 hours, spend 2 hours in class and drive home and get ready to work again the next day.

·         Decrease tuition costs!!

·         Although I don't really like online learning, this class was well presented, and flowed really well and beneficial to me.

·         n/a

·         I think Dr. ***** does a great job in organizing and utilizing this online course.

·         none

·         Is there anyway we could not have to meet on campus at all????

·         I wish these classes were completely online with zero face to face meetings.

·         I would like more scheduled online audio and/or video chats.

·         All good.

·         N/A

·         More podcasting to allow students even more flexibility and portability.

·         A suggestion would be to have a community calendar for all students and instructors that puts the assignments/assessments and their due dates for everyone to see.

·         Most students who apply online courses have either full-time courses on campus or work full time. In my case I work full time and have a very busy schedule. My advice would be to not overload students with multiple assignments due on the same date. In cases as such, we are racing to beat the window closing.

·         I have no suggestions at this time.

·         none

·         None

·         1.  Do not combine sections to ease teacher work load.  It increases the work load and compelxity of collaboration for students.  2.  Allow students flexibility in their collaboration.  The key is collaboration, not being able to be graded while collaborating.

·         No comment

·         N/A

·         Have assignments available at the beginning of the semester so students can work at their own pace and work ahead if they need to.

·         I have no suggestions.

·         Make the courses completely online. Start using webcams for required class meetings.

·         To re-format CourseDen so that assignments are administered in a linear fashion.  Also, so that all the assignments for the semester can be posted in the beginning of the semester.

·         n/a

·         I felt as though we were overwhelmed with discussions.  I enjoyed the projects, but the discussions were too much.

·         If instructors are going to put us in groups for projects, please group us geographically.

·         I like the current format.

·         nothing

·         Make sure what is assigned is a meaningful assignment and not something to keep students sitting at their computers.

·         My main suggestion would be less discussion posts and comments. The 8-12 comments and responses were a little ridiculous.

·         Make sure the instructors page is clear and easy to understand.

·         none

·         I have no suggestions

·         I liked one of my professor's discussion posts for questions by topic and also for posting information for the class.  I think those outlets reduced stress in that class and helped the students collaborate with each other and help each other in an informal forum.

·         N/A

·         N/A

·         Have any face to face classes available as online tutorials or videos so if you can't make it, you still get the information. There also shouldn't be mandatory face to face meetings if the information is something that can be posted.

·         na

·         N/A

·         nothing - good class.

·         Get another instructor, really fast!

·         none

·         No comment

·         separate the students into groups so that we can extablish a better online community

·         Re-format CourseDen so that all the assignments for the semester can be posted at the beginning of the course.  Post assignments in a linear fashion.

·         - Most people are taking these online courses because they live a formidable distance away from campus and want the convenience of college classes without having to leave work early for class.  I live 90 miles away, which is an hour and a half drive when

·         I actually do appreciate the initial face to face meetings. I think that is a good way to start the semester.

·         Post all of the assignments at the beginning of the class and allow students to work at their own pace.  That is why I chose to enroll in online courses.

·         Give more tutorials on specific aspects of the software.

·         For this class, I would suggest at least 2 more face-to-face classes.

·         Please prepare all cd and documents on a media device instead of relying on bandwith and video on the web pages.

·         keep up the good work and keep looking for new ways to do it better.

·         None, everything was great!

·         Make sure professor is very organized

·         Offer more online courses.

·         Keep everything online.  No class meetings.

·         My strongest recommendation is that assignments be relevant and instructive rather than simply coursework for assesssment.  All of our assignments and coursework for this class were relevant and instructive.  Assignments of this type  produce genuine learning and growth over the duration of the class.

·         - Make them totally online.  This class was but most online classes have a minimum of 1 mandatory face to face, which necessitates leaving work early and driving 2.5 hours through rush hour traffic to get to the class on time.  Very inconvenient and stres

·         More podcasts for even more convenience and portability for students.

·         Keep offering them.

·         n/a

·         None, love it!

·         Nothing

·         There should be at least one face to face.

·         Dr. **** class -none

·         Keep searching for new ways to be more interactive. New technology and software should always be searched for.

·         moon pies

·         I would like some feedback about the grades given on the discussions throughout the semester, rather than having to wait until the end of term.

·         I can't think of anything that would need to be added.

·         None

·         This survey is a duplicate

·         Make sure they are set up so that students can see the entire semester's assignments on the front page.

·         no face to face

·         N/A

·         not applicable

·         not applicable

·         No face to face meetings are necessary.   A welcome video would do.

·         Make video presentations and have discussion options that help to clarify the material.

·         Keep everything online.

·         More collaboration, allowing others to comment on your work and make suggestions. Samples given.

·         Offer more of them.

·         For this course I would recommend another instructor.

·         Give a lay-out of the course and a list of all assignments due (since it's online) and let us do them.  We were spoon fed. Get some here, then some here. Then oh, I had to add something else.  Dr.**** knows her stuff, BUT the class needs to be laid out more clearly.  And why do we have to listen to 20 minute power point presentations created 5-8 years ago and take notes, THEN still come to class and talk about nothing relative.  She also has way too many links via Course Den for each assignment.

·         using only ONE email address, not one for the class, one for the university, and one for other communications

·         be clear on directions so there isn't any confusion. make sure every module/assignment is updated with correct information.  make sure all links work

·         Allow more flexibility for turning in assignments. Most people taking online courses are working fulltime as well.

·         none

·         Personally, I am not a supporter of online classes, so I don't have many suggestions.  However, it would have been nice to meet at least once in person at the beginning of the semester.  Have the professors actually participate in the class.  Dr.**** only led a few of the weekly discussions and rarely commented on students' postings.  I felt like she was only there for grading and administrative purposes.

·         Make quizzes and exams available to look at

·         I think all professors should make their lectures into a video so it's just like being in a classroom.

·         tests should be available like quizzes so you can do them after you read and take the quiz. This way it is still fresh on your mind.

·         Have more classes as this one were it is online.

·         Give an all day window to take test for those that may work at night or have other responsibilities.

·         I would greatly like to see more classes available online!!!

·         Please realize the importance of instant feedback on questions missed so that students are not left void of the correct information. Maybe there is a rationalization for this method of instruction.

·         Don't know yet

·         I do not have any suggestions.

·         None, its pretty good

·         Balance the grading and learning by having homework assignments and quizzes to better prepare for exams and help in learing the material.

·         The professor needs to make the tests himself & guide students consistantly throughout the course.  He was not involved at ALL during the semester.  He did not respond in a timely manner to emails.  He offered no assistance when asked.  I am very upset to have paid to take this class- it is not a University-level course and should not be offered in its current condition.  Lankford need to speak with Cheryl Brown in marketing, Dr. **** in Finance, and Beth Clenney in Mgmt to learn how to run an on-line course.  The material for the class was very interesting & important, however the format of the class (or lack of) and hands-off attitude of the professor were awful.

·         none

·         I think students need some more direction in this course than was offered.  I have been doing ok in the course but I have been trying really hard to just do ok.  I think it would be great if there was some lectures to listen to online and some problem solving walk-throughs.

·         none

·         give us more assignment or anything to do to make our grades better.

·         none

·         none

·         I think if you are going to have test or quizzes and are only able to take them once then the student should be able to see what answers he or she got wrong so that they will know or a test if it is a quiz. Make sure they are puttin online notes up because that helps understand the chapter a student has to read.

·         Make sure to tell future students that the class may not be completely online as explained when I signed up for it.

·         none

·         None.

·         Course den should be more user friendly and convinient to use even frm home.

·         The course is great as long the students are organized enough to keep up with upcoming assignments and discussions on their own.

·         I would recommend this class not be taught online again unless it was completely restructured.  And a better commitment from the instructor to help students.

·         none

·         Not sure.

·         that maybe they make the first day of classes be face-to-face with the professor and then the rest of the class could be on line.

·         None. Overall, I enjoyed the class

·         not have as many assignments for one mdule, but mkae the module longer. have more interactive activities. maybe have a discussion group once a week for students to ask questions that they have over the material

·         For this course, I would suggest using Course Den only.  Utilitize the discussion section for more than anonomous discussion and group discussions for the online project. Mutliple sites create confusion, Courseden is able to do everything WW was without having to have additional places to post assignments.

·         reminders of assignments when you log into webCT

·         Just I wish that there were more courses offered on online

·         Make the material more understanding and it felt like it was more than a beginners class.

·         lessen websites

·         More explanations on how to work the programs we need to use for the people that really dont know a lot about computer software and programs. Not saying they are not necessary because they are due to this type of class. Just more instruction.

·         None.

·         Give more specific instructions before doing online classes.

·         Do not make the online sessions or assignments more burdensome than regular class would have been.  When this occurs, students come to feel that they would just as soon have attended class

·         The professor needs to be better prepared and communicate more clearly and more timely.

·         Online classes using WIMBA or just have students post responses

·         completely only

·         Notify on-line students of registration deadline dates on line since we are not on an actual campus. The only notification is for payment of fees.

·         Not at this time

·         Cut back on the number of on-line students assigned to the instructors/professors.  Their workload is too much. Make sure students are familiar with the program before class begins, those who are not educate them. Thanks

·         Keep it up

·         Maybe an easier usage of library materials tutorial.

·         More days on line

·         more online

·         None at this time

·         Cut back on the number of students assigned to each instructor.  Their workload is definitely too much for them.  Provide educational session to students who are not familiar with on-line courses.

·         That they be 100% on-line.  I received my BSN from UWG going to the Georgia Highland campus.  This also helped with the tution fees.  The MSN program is almost double what I paid for the BSN program.

·         I would prefer 100% on-line.

·         None

·         weekly assignments or assessments to reinforce knowledge.

·         Being able to upload videos. It would make some assignments of visually checking off students on health assessment skills easier. It would even increase interaction.

·         I would rather have 100% on-line courses.  If you look at the fees the MSN students are paying, we do not utilize the majority of the fees.  For example, athletic fees, bus fees.

·         50/50 online

·         perhaps a live online class just to see the group in real time...

·         ?

·         None.

·         Structure them like Dr. **** class. She is very organized and extremely helpful for the students. We can meet with her anytime, use Wimba, discussion board, etc.

·         None.

·         All assignments should be due at the same time each due date.

·         Nothing. This class should stay the same.

·         have set times for quizzes.

·         Nothing it was wonderful.

·         Continute to offer online courses.

·         none

·         My only suggestion would be to keep looking at ways to make other courses available online. This is such a great option for students who live far away, work, or have families of their own. Thank you for making this course online.

·         None that I can think of

·         nothing

·         I would have the actual site and/or server redone.

·         Give students a later drop off date

·         Have an instructor who cared about students being able to find material she posted.

·         none. great program

·         Nothing

·         My biggest complaint was that the class was billed as a 90% on-line course, but then we had to go to class 7 or 8 times.  I had an extremely difficult time getting to class from my school placement, which was in Peachtree City.  The instructor was not real sympathetic even though I didn't have much choice where I went for my school placement. This course would have been a great on-line course so I'm not sure why we had to go so many times.

·         Be flexible.

·         None

·         Some way of notifying students when things are due.

·         n/a

·         night dealines

·         no suggestions, well put together

·         none

·         To be more like this one!

·         Quizzes easier

·         None

·         n/a

·         less current events

·         improve streamline for UWG connection especially when a lot of people all log in all at once...hard to get through.

·         fix problem 25

·         I do not know of any suggestions.

·         I think UWG should add more classes online and more degree programs.

·         Make more classes on-line.

·         none

·         I don't really have any suggestions. I thought it was very good.

·         More feedback from instructor and some kind of chat room discussion.

·         None it was excellent

·         To have assignments posted up able to be done more than a week before the deadline.

·         Less reading.

·         Use less icons, and more text in its place.

·         A few online test grades possibly, but other than that nothing.

·         Nothing

·         I wouldn't make any.

·         N/A

·         Hire a developer to build a new online content page. Seriously.

·         Powerpoints are very helpful and more efficient at times.

·         make sure there isnt any technical difficulties while a student is trying to submit a discussion or quiz

·         Allow a longer grace period for drop/add so that people can maybe make a better decision as to whether or not an online class is right for them.

·         When I go to the calendar and click the item that is due, it would have been nice that it specifies which discussion is due.  Sometimes I got confused on which discussion was due.

·         make them very straight forward and easy to understand

·         More Classes from which to chooose

·         Post all the assignments on the web so the students can complete them on their own pace rather than posting it every week.

·         keep offering them

·         Make the online assignments on webct, post grades to webct

·         There's not much to change really.

·         n/a

·         more feedback via email for graded assignments

·         The instructor provides more detail assignments instruction.

·         None

·         Offer a WebCT tutor before the first day of class.

·         none

·         Offer more classes

·         More of them would be great

·         maybe a meeting or two in person

·         none

·         None

·         None really.

·         longer amount of time to do tests

·         work at your own pace rather than having to submit assignments weekly

·         making more classes available online

·         they are completely assetable at all times

·         maybe more variety. Same old thing every week

·         none

·         There is no suggestions I have to make pertaining to the on-line course.

·         Other instructors considering doing online courses could use this instructor for information on how to make there class as successful as this one was for me, it was a well put together class.

·         I have no suggestions.

·         none

·         Make things less redundant.

·         make sure you have a strong internet connection

·         none

·         I think the online part of the course was ok but I would not like to take a course that is completely online.

·         Make sure all of the kinks are worked out with the professors and ITS.

·         Have a designated spot for support that knows all the material and software needed for that particular course.

·         Teachers with more experience in explaining things.

·         I would make sure I have enough time in my schedule to take another online class.

·         I think the discussion board should only require a student to write their own response.

·         Nothing

·         Fully online rather than partial.

·         allow the studen to see the test after a certain period of time, so they can know what it is they dont understand

·         making more classes available online

·         Have the tests up ahead of time and have them open for a day longer.

·         NONE, THE COURSE INSTUCTOR IS A PERFECT TEACHERS. UWG NEEDS MORE LIKE THIS ONE.

·         use this instructor for information to set up on line courses.

·         n/a

·         Don't change anything.

·         I feel like standards for online courses could be higher.

·         No improvements needed.

·         Have students complete individual posts instead of in groups.

·         N/A

·         N/A

·         none

·         establish more classes

·         none

·         There is not much I can suggest that would make this class better online.  I am just not an online person.  I like the person to person feedback. The class was an excellent one and I learned a lot.

·         none.

·         I think that professors should be made to check their email in course den more often.

·         None

·         Keep offering on line courses.

·         none

·         none

·         I don't know.

·         Nothing it was perfect!

·         I do not have any suggestions at this time.

·         No online tests

·         N/A

·         Make sure deadlines are clearly posted and are consistent

·         MORE INSTRUCTORS TO BE LIKE HER!!! EXCELLENT!!!

·         None

·         make sure they are available!  i hope i won't be held up to finish my degree because the courses i need aren't offered online...(or not at all!)

·         Offer more courses on-line! PLEASE!!!

·         NONE

·         None.

·         Take Dr. ****

·         have this particular class taught on campus.

·         Cover all of the assigned materials!

·         Have this class meet at least four times during the semester.

·         Better tutorials

·         NO MORE ONLINE CLASSES---EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

·         100%online

·         Be more creative and offer more open-ended questions for discussion posts so actual discussion among classmates happens with ease instead of feeling forced and repetitive.

·         .

·         gradeing in a timely manner.

·         Equity of assignments being worth more so that you can choose assignments that you would like to complete based on interested.

·         Have more examples of what a good reflection could look like...and have it available before the end of the semester!

·         Having all teachers set up the on-line courses the same way with drop boxes, posting of assignments, etc.

·         none

·         NO MORE ON-LINE CLASSES----EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

·         100% online!!!

·         It would be nice if lectures were taped and I could watch them. It is very hard to read so much material in leiu of an lecture.

·         .

·         Better organization for all on-line course.  Create a format and have all professors work with the same format.  This will help educators be able to navigate b/t different online classes.

·         I would suggest to maintain a stable online course instrument. Some of the materials were unavailable, if quite a few people were online doing the same task, it would lose connection, and using some of the materials downloads would be difficult to see or hear.

·         Discontinue the use of the over-priced book.

·         100% online!!!!!!!!!!!!!

·         I think you should provide CD's for lecture, I get tired of having to read so much in leiu of true instruction

·         none

·         I don't know how to make online classes more personable without increasing costs.

·         The only suggestion that I have is possibly getting more instructors comfortable with doing on line classes

·         NO MORE ONLINE CLASSES--EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

·         none

·         More explanation about what is expected in the assignments.

·         Have the course assignments accurate and ready when the course begins.

·         none

·         Take away reflections.

·         none

·         None.

·         Strengthen the program to reduce days when it is unavailable due to maintenance or droppage.

·         inclusion of books

·         Provide a few more 'in person' class meetings just in case students experience difficulty with a class assignment or concept.

·         The courses need to have more than 2 face to face meetings.

·         There has to be face to face meetings also.

·         Not as much to have to read and do.

·         Having face-to-face meetings at least 2 times a semester.

·         I have none at this time

·         More explanation about the assignemtns.

·         Continue to update with features as available.

·         Continue the detailed syllabus and assignments!

·         I feel that the EDL and SPED departments might want to rethink combining classes.  That was the worst thing to do for the professors and the students.

·         I think offering online classes in which you meet 1-2 times per semester in person provides the best mix of support and convenience. I do think its important to meet in person as a class at least once.

·         I LOVE the fact that West GA has moved towards more online courses; however, I do not want the classes to become completely online. That's what I like about W. GA; the fact that its mostly online but we still get the opportunity to meet with and know our professors. I would like to keep it the way it is but meet at least twice/semester.

·         timely response

·         none

·         I do not have any at this time.

·         Figure it out (instructor) before the class begins.

·         Get it together BEFORE the semester begins.  As a teacher, I can't walk into my class unprepared, so why at this level is it acceptable?
