Question 15: What did you dislike about
the online portion of this course?
-
nothing
-
Nothing
-
Chat was really hard to get adjusted to.
Smaller groups would have been easier to chat with.
-
missing the physical classroom interaction
and discussions
-
nothing yet
-
I love online classes!!
-
There was not much that I did not like about
the online course. My instructor was available when I needed her and I
enjoyed that. She was not a stranger.
-
The lack of getting to know fellow classmates
-
nothing
-
Some of the webpage links would not come up
and I had to guess on those answers on the quizzes.
-
nothing
-
NOTHING
-
I enjoyed all of it.....But it is very easy
to procrastinate....Just need responcibility.
-
If you know what you are doing but you
do not pay attention to the smallest details of the exercises you
might click something correctly but have it counted against your score.
-
There wasn't anything that I disliked about
the course but the cost of the book was staggering.
-
the chat rooms. well only because you
have to wait and then you could loose the train of thought
-
Nothing.
-
I did not like when webct was not working
properly. For instance once Dr. Putney had sent me some private
mail and I couldn't open it because it said "Error on this page."
I was frustrated because I wanted to read Dr. Putney's response to a question
I had. I ended up having to resort to my regular email to communicate
with her.
-
nothing
-
Difficulty of getting book required for class.
-
Nothing
-
There is nothing I dislike about online courses.
-
nothing
-
Nothing everthything great!
-
I LOVE THE ON-LINE COURSE. IT WAS EASY
AND CONVENIENT.
-
Being a May-Mester class the work was
fast-paced. I was unable to assure quality work.
-
I liked the online potion of ths course very
much.
-
Nothing.
-
I have no dislike.
-
Dr. Putney was so good about responding and
posting our grades I didn't feel like I missed out on anything!
-
nothing
-
Not really anything I guess. At
first I couldn't figure out how to send my assignments but
after I was able to do that I felt much better.
-
Computer glitches.
-
Nothing
-
Nothing
-
I missed the interaction with the other teachers.
-
I didn't dislike any aspect of the online
portion of this class.
-
Hearing and discussing the real life experience.
-
Our professor asked us to read all the postings
from all of our class members and it was too much to keep up with.
-
At times it was a bit confusing.. things were
posted that weren't supposed to be and things that weren't up there needed
to be
-
A fear of being lost on the computer
however this instructor was very supportive with decreasing my anxiety.
-
Nothing
-
Getting answers to questions depended on who
read the questions and when. No immediate answers. I liked
the classes where on-line times were assigned so that you knew answers
would be available quicker.
-
Not understanding what a WebCt course was
going to be like.
-
nothing
-
Not having access to the professor as much
as I would have liked.
-
No problems with online itself. I did not
like the way the instructor structured this particular class because
while cooperative learning can be good for some assignments having
all assignments be group projects made it hard because we had little face-t-face
time.
-
Because of the number of students responding
to discussions it gets a little overwhelming to read over 500 entries.
-
Sometimes I felt like I had nothing to say
but knew I was graded on number of responses I made to the discussion board.
-
I don't have face to face communication with
peers professor.
-
I feel that I would have gotten more from
the class had I been in the classroom.
-
I did not like the lack of feedback of exams.
-
I liked the course
-
I'm not sure if I learned as well having to
teach myself. I feel I missed some of the value of hearing and seeing
an actual lecture.
-
Pace was too fast. I think every other
day would be better than every day for three weeks straight.
-
Every comment I made seemed so formal.
There was little comfort in asking questions or commenting on topics casually.
-
Nothing
-
Not seeing the professor. I need to
see people.
-
The course is so fast-paced ... there was
little time for reflection. But I am also taking two other courses.
-
can't think of anything
-
nothing
-
nothing
-
I like to have a personal relationship with
the people in class and the professor.
-
nothing..it was great
-
I had to check my mail several times a day
to make sure that I could keep up. If I missed a day I was way behind
-
There wasn't anything that I disliked.
-
I wouldn't say disliked but there was
a lot of work and it was kind of a conflict with my work schedule.
Also the library closed too early during the week and I had to either
leave work early or miss work in order to do my assignments.
-
I can't think of anything at present.
-
I didn't get to know any of my classmates.
-
nothing
-
I disliked not being able to hear the teacher
give the lectures.
-
not having people to communicate with in person
-
Sometimes my computer would freeze up...
-
nothing.
-
Because of the nature of the questions it
was sometimes difficult to get the correct format for cites because webct
would changed them around when you logged out and then logged back in.
-
Undecided.
-
Most of the material was very time consuming
and frustrating at times.
-
Not having face to face communication with
the teacher in case of an important question.
-
sometimes computers make mistakes
-
It is very impersonal. Also once you got into
webct and got your questions you had to keep getting out to answer them. There
were also some problems with it scrambling information during transmittal.
-
SOme of the assignments did not give enough
information to complete the worksheets. The directions that were given
for some of the worksheets and assignments were also confusing for some.
-
Alot of work in three weeks
-
when my computer was having problems I couldn't
complete the assignments
-
some websites were difficult to access because
one needed a password from the library (netlibrary)
-
BEing unable to talk to my professor
-
i loved everything about the course online
-
I truly have no dislikes about the online
course. However having just an online course would not be something
I would vote for simply because I also learn a lot from an in-class siting.
-
Not having someone to ask questions to face
to face. I did however spend a lot of the time at the college asking Ms.
Ollendorf questions. SHe was very helpful.
-
There is not as much interaction as there
would be in a live classroom.
-
nothing
-
i dont have an internet line in my home
and the computor lab closes to early and so does the library
that i had to struggle to meet the time schedules
-
I did not have my dislikes just the fear of
something in the technolgy going really wrong and lossing work.
-
I did not know any of my classmates. I had
to talk to my teacher so I rather be in a class setting. It is easy
to forget your deadlines.
-
limited interaction with instructor.
-
I did not like the grades i got on assignments
and how the MLA handbook was not clear enough
-
The chapter lessons did not go into enough
detail. This made it hard to score high on the quizes
-
I very much appreciate conversation and discussion
in person. Granted this wasn't a class that was very discussion oriented
but in other classes I prefer to have conversations in person.
-
That somethings were not explained in detail.
You can end up assuming things that are not correct.
-
I think that online course serve a purpose
but they never replace the component of the interaction between and great
teacher. Students are less likely to work hard to compile the necessary
knowledge base. Online course may not work will for certain subjects.
-
Lack of interaction. I learn so much
more from discussion and the opinions and questions of class mates.
-
Webct acted up a lot and not const. many times.
-
Not haveing papers to look at and having to
remind myself to look at the syllabus and bulletin board.
-
I have no complaints.
-
I really like on-line courses. I can't
think of anything.
-
Working with a group. Many of the members
did not do their portion of the assignments.
-
The technology did not work very well.
-
Reading and printing communications from other
classmates
-
Nothing as long as the equipment and servers
were working. My frustration with the online portion came from phone trouble
which is not related to the school's resposibility but is something to
consider.
-
Feedback time when there's a problem.
-
Nothing!
-
Not applicable
-
I found nothing that I did not like about
this class.
-
submitting some of my assignments
-
I did not dislike anything about it.
-
OUT times due to electrical storms uncontrollable
events. . .
-
I miss the discussions that take place in
a regular face-to-face class.
-
going to the Carrollton campus for the first
class
-
Nothing. It was well-orgainized by the instructor
and worked well.
-
nothing
-
Insecurity that my computer knowledge was
up to what was needed.
-
going to the Carrollton campus for the first
class meeting.
-
No thing
-
I found nothing about this class that I didn't
like.
-
No immediate feedback.
-
I disliked nothing about the course.
-
Nothing to report
-
Twice I was unable to access WEBCT
-
nothing
-
none - except if the computer lines were down
due to weather or something out of our control.
-
The amount of work required.
-
nothing
-
Face to face contact delay in responses.
-
It doesn't work well with AOL. Someone needs
to work on that. A lot of students I am pretty sure uses AOL as their internet
service provider.
-
Hard to work with others schedules. Having
to check constantly for updates because there is no set time for them to
come in.
-
Absolutely nothing.
-
not having lectures that i can listen to and
take notes
-
The group work
-
Some students did not particpate.
-
I hated the fact of having to depend on other
people and never meeting them.
-
getting the group to work on their parts
-
Getting through groupos together was difficult
-
nothing...
-
Nothing the class exeeded all of my
expectations.
-
waiting for e-mails
-
Working in groups
-
I disliked the group project given to complete
strangers whose only communication is through the internet. Individuals
with different work ethics and only a peer evaluation to police them. If
you take someone's "A" quality work and merge it with someone's quickly
put together "D" quality work and individuals that submit no work. ``It
was a situation that I truly detested.
-
I don't really like group work in online courses..
it is confusing and hard to get everyone to participate... someone never
carries their full load
-
Not being able to get full explanation of
assignments.
-
The short time that we got due to summer
-
Lack of communication
-
It was rather impersonal communicating
with people you did not know. Even when we were in class we didn't really
know each other. I would not reccommend online courses to anyone but those
who are very mature and self directed learners.
-
Not very spontaneous
-
nothing
-
We really did not have all the bugs worked
out in time to use it fully.
-
nothing
-
have to be organiized and self motivated
-
the two on campus meetings
-
Sometimes it is harder to learn the
new material online.
-
No complaints at present
-
I feel that this particular course should
have been in a classroom setting.
-
nothing- i have taken other online courses
and they have lacked but this class has given me hope!
-
Would like to have met after reading the books
-
All of it. If I would have wanted an
online course I would have signed up for one.
-
Everything
-
This class would have been more effective
had there been more "live" classes. Since this was a class that brought
about a lot of emotion and was about a subject that most people know
little about I believe that the students would have been able to
have more questions answered and attain a better understanding of the Holocaust
and the issues surrounding it if there were at least more live classes.
-
there were too many emotions dealing with
this subject for it to be online.
