Download & Restore a Course Backup to 4.1

| Past Courses are maintained for 1 year here:
- Go to http://http://webctarchive/webct/public/home.pl
Username: Prefix of uwg email address (ex.cfearrin@westga.edu - username: cfearrin)
Password: same unless you’ve changed it
* If desired course is not listed, contact distance@westga.edu and request it.. be
sure to specify course name, number, section, and term. |
Current Course

|
We recommend that you backup your
course several times during the term. For example, after each time you enter
grades into your roster. You are only allowed to store three backups, so you
will have to delete old backups or download them. At the end of the term,
we definitely recommend that you download your final backup. We only
keep archived courses for 1 year and are not responsible for loss of archives.
If you save your
course backups then if something happens to your course at a later date, you
can upload this file into your course and restore it -- OR-- restore your
course for use in a later term!
II. To Backup a 4.1 Course
- Click on desired course’s name
- Click on Control
Panel button (top
left of screen).
- Click on Manage Course and then Create Backup.
For your own needs, if you wish, type a description of the backup and
then click on Create.
- The file will be created. A message appears giving the
file name, which contains the date and time the backup was created. Do
NOT try and unzip this zip file - it can only be "unzipped" by
restoring it into a WebCT.
The
Zip file would have to be uploaded & restored into a blank WebCT course.
For this reason, if you would like to save your discussion board messages
or student grades as easily viewed resources, you'll need to download these
items separately. See "optional procedures" noted on http://www.westga.edu/~distance/webct/facultymanual/backup.htm
III. To Download (Save) Backup
- To download (Save) your backup to your own computer,
click on the radial button next to your backup file and then choose Download
from the dropdown box under Backup File Functions.
- You will be prompted to choose the computer directory/folder
where you want the file stored. For this workshop, save it to the Desktop.
- If something happens to your course at a later date, you
can upload this file into your course and restore it -- OR-- restore your
course for use in a later term!
