Error Messages

Possible error messages you may see when accessing or using Vista:


Unauthorized to View This Page

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. Go to the Tools menu
  3. Select Internet Options
  4. Click Advanced tab
  5. Under the Browsing section deselect "Show Friendly HTTP errors" (remove the checkmark)
  6. Click OK
  7. Close your browser and re-open it.

If you are still unable to access CourseDen you may have spyware on your computer that is causing your problem. Spyware can keep you from accessing websites, from downloading and installing programs (i.e., Java). They can also do other malicious things as recording your passwords and keystrokes.

Download, install and run Ad-Aware or Spysweeper to remove any suspected spyware. After you have removed the traces of spyware, try accessing Vista again.

It is recommended to run a spysweeping program weekly to keep your system clean. Spysweeping software is NOT virus detecting software. Be sure to protect your computer by installing Norton Antivirus, Mcafee Anitvirus or another antivirus software.


Session Already Running

This problem can be resolved by changing an Internet Explorer setting:

  1. In Internet Explorer, from the Tools menu, select Internet Options
  2. Click the Advanced tab.
  3. Under Browsing , clear the checkbox for Show friendly HTTP error messages .
  4. Click OK .
  5. Restart the Internet Explorer browser.

Search toolbars may also cause this problem. Uninstall search toolbars from Yahoo!, mySearch, AltaVista, Google, etc. You may be able to uninstall a toolbar through the Windows Control Panel:

  1. From the Start menu, select Settings , Control Panel
  2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs
  3. Locate the search toolbar, and click Change/Remove
  4. Follow the onscreen instructions.

Unexpected System Error

Be sure you have the correct version of Sun Java installed. To check this:

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. Go to the Tools Menu Select Internet Options
  3. In the Advanced tab, scroll down and look for "Microsoft VM"
  4. Deselect (un-check) any of the Microsoft Java checkboxes.
  5. Make sure the Java (Sun) box is checked
  6. In the Sun Java box it should read Java 2v1.5_07
  7. If you do not have this version of Sun Java, click here to download it.

Incredifind - Search Page

Incredifind is third party software that installs with other programs. This piece of software hijacks your browser and sends you to their website. Uninstall instructions for IncrediFind may be found at http://incredifind.com . (The uninstall link may be found at the bottom of the page.)

PerfectNav - Search Page

PerfectNav is an application that is bundled with the Free Ad Supported version of Kazaa Media Desktop. You will need to uninstall Kazaa and PerfectNav in order to have your browser work properly with CourseDen.

Pestpatrol.com states that some users have found that just uninstalling Kazaa does not remove PerfectNav. They suggest that you first uninstall Kazaa, then run an app called Kazaa Begone which will remove all elements and bundled software that comes with Kazaa. Spyware

HTTP 403 Forbidden or Access Denied Errors

When trying to log into CourseDen, some users have reported getting "403 Forbidden" or "Access Denied" error messages. One possible cause is an Internet Explorer 6 update installed by Windows Update. Some users found that this problem could be resolved by changing an Internet Explorer setting:

  1. In Internet Explorer, from the Tools menu, select Internet Options
  2. Click the Advanced tab.
  3. Under Browsing , clear the checkbox for Show friendly HTTP error messages .
  4. Click OK .
  5. Restart the Internet Explorer browser.

If this problem persists after changing this setting and restarting your browser, it may be caused by spyware or deceptive software on your computer. Read more about spyware.


Session Timed Out

If that doesn't work you need to uninstall Java and reinstall Java 1.5. You MUST uninstall the old version before reinstalling 1.5.
