West Georgia Regional Outlook - Fall 2008
The 2009 Economics Forecast Breakfast was held on Thursday, October 28, 2008 at 7:30 a.m. in the Campus Center Ball Room on the campus of the University of West Georgia. The featured speakers were Dr. William "Joey" Smith and Dr..Kenneth HeaghneyThere were over 390 people in attendance this year.
Dr. .Kenneth Heaghney is the Fiscal Economist for the State of Georgia.  Kenneth has over 20 years of experience working with business leaders on a wide range of economic problems and issues.  Much of his recent experience has been on applying economic analysis to the development and implementation of pricing strategies.  As the state economist, he is responsible for developing the annual tax revenue forecast for the state’s budget and advising the Governor’s office on economic and other policy issues.  Our second speaker will be Dr. William (Joey) Smith.  Dr. Smith is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of West Georgia.  He earned his Ph.D. in economics from Georgia State University.
 
Dr. William "Joey" Smith is an Assistant Professor of  Economics at the University of West Georgia. Formerly,  Dr. Smith was a research associate at the Fiscal Research Center at Georgia State University . He specialized in the study of growth patterns of the Atlanta Metropolitan Area and in the empirical analysis of state tax policies. Joey will provide an update on the outlook for the state and West Georia Economics. Joey is a graduate of Haralson County High School.
