The Director of First-Year Writing is Prof. Brandy Robinson (brobinso@westga.edu).

The First-Year Writing Program works to attain a level of uniformity across the many course sections of English 1101 and 1102 by making sure the learning outcomes and objectives explained in the Course Descriptions of ENGL 1101 and 1102 are met by each professor. One way the FYW Program does this is by using shared texts. The shared texts for the 2007-08 academic year are

ENGL 1101: Julia Alvarez’s Something to Declare

ENGL 1102: Julia Alvarez’s In the Time of the Butterflies

ENGL 1101 and 1102: The handbook A Writer's Resource
