German Professor to Visit Department in Spring 2004

Professor Uwe Zagratzki, who teaches at Carl von Ossietzky Universitšt in Oldenburg, Germany, will join our department for spring semester 2004. Professor Zagratizki and his family will be coming to Carrollton to live and experience American culture while he shares with us his expertise in Scottish literature. He will teach a section of ENGL 4180 (Studies in Regional Literature) in the literature of Scotland, as well as a section of ENGL 2120 and an XIDS 2100 course that focuses on travel writing, another of his scholarly interests. Descriptions that provide further details on all these classes are available in the course description section of this edition of Footnotes.

Although other departments have had visiting professors as part of UWG exchange program with the university in Oldenburg, Professor Zagratzki will be the first such visitor for our department. Plans are underway for a member of our department to teach at Professor Zagratzki's home institution during the coming academic year.
