Course
description
- A supervised practicum
within a career-related setting that is writing-, editing-, tutoring-,
and/or teaching-intensive. Enrollment is contingent on approval
of proposed internship activities by both instructor and department
chair.
- Prerequisites:
ENGL 1101 and 1102.
- A further specific
description pertaining to this section of the course may be added.
Course
Goals
- Students
will enhance their proficiency in writing, editing, tutoring, and/or
teaching skills within an actual work setting.
- Students will
be able to analyze rhetorical as well as compositional strengths and
weaknesses in both their own and others' writing.
- Students will
understand and articulate a code of professional ethics in relation
to their writing, editing, peer-tutoring, and/or teaching internship.
- Students will
be able to define clearly the value of the internship experience as
it bears on their program of study, individual career goals, and post-baccalaureate
interests.

- Students will develop
the analytical, oral and written skills to pursue graduate study or
careers in teaching, writing, business and a variety of other fields.
