The UWG Learning Festival will be held on the campus of the University of West Georgia June 4-6, 2007, to celebrate outstanding teaching in the West Georgia region and surrounding states. It is anticipated that 300-400 classroom teachers will gather to share experiences and celebrate the art and the science of teaching.
The Learning Festival will offer participants a conference-style program, with approximately four events on-going at all times. University of West Georgia faculty, local and regional veteran teachers and administrators, and other educators will address over 100 teaching and learning topics. All presenters will provide their time without charge, and the Festival is free to any teacher or community member who wishes to attend. In addition to a number of outstanding teachers-of-the-year who will attend, other teachers in the West Georgia region will be honored daily.
The overall goal of this initial UWG Learning Festival is to promote classroom teaching and to assist teachers in the West Georgia region to realize their contribution to the quality of life in our schools and communities. By assembling so many high quality teachers in one location, and at one time, we are confident that all participants will benefit from their experience.
