School Artists’ Exhibition
The Department of Curriculum and Instruction at the University of West Georgia will hold its third Summer Learning Festival (LF09) in celebration of teaching (http://www.westga.edu/~festival). We would like to invite you and your students to participate via an exhibition of art and school banners. This is a wonderful opportunity to have your students’ creative efforts recognized publicly and enjoyed by teachers from all over Georgia!
All students and schools, whose work is submitted and exhibited, will be presented with certificate of recognition at the closing celebration of the Summer Learning Festival.
Please select 10-15 original artworks completed by students in your school. Then, with the permission of the student and his or her legal guardian(s), fill out the School Artists’ Exhibition form and tape it to the back of the artwork. Ask students to sign and date their artwork in the bottom right hand corner. Two-dimensional artwork needs to be delivered already matted in cardboard frames that are 16” x 20” (No wooden, glass, or metal frames or glass sheets covering the face of the artwork. Theses items make it difficult to hang artwork). Any three-dimensional work should be carefully wrapped and placed inside a box with the information slip taped to the outside and identification also on the bottom of the three-dimensional artwork.
Please accompany these artworks with a school banner that measures 10'x8'. This banner needs to be one of the three primary colors used in the festival’s logo (yellow, blue, or red). Lastly, this banner needs a dowel (rod) at the top and bottom so that it may be easily hung and without curling ends.
Artwork and banners may be dropped off at the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the Education Annex by Friday, May 15, 2009. These will be on display from May 20 through June 8 to allow for pre- and post-arrangements related to the Summer Learning Festival. Artwork and banners may be picked up from the Department of Curriculum and Instruction on Tuesday, June 9 , between 1:00 p. m. and 4:30 p.m.
Thank you in advance for your time and effort in supporting this endeavor.
