A native of Georgia, Bridgette W. Gunnels received a B.A. in English and an M.A. in Spanish from the University of Georgia. While completing requirements for a Ph.D. in Latin American Literature from UNC-Chapel Hill, she lived extensively in Seville and Madrid, Spain. Her research focuses primarily on ecocritical themes in Modern Latin American literature, specifically in the short story. She has also worked Mexican philosophers of history and Latin American identity. Current interests include the novela de la selva, literature of autochthony and aspects of community learning and creative writing. She has taught different levels of Spanish language as well as introductions to Hispanic literature through short stories and has given papers on topics ranging from colonial Latin American literature to contemporary Latin American novel. | |||
