María José Hellín García received a B.A in English Studies from University of Valencia, and an M.A from University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a double major in Modern Languages & Literatures and Curriculum & Instruction. She received her PhD from University of Minnesota in Hispanic Linguistics. Her areas of interest are: Cognitive Linguistics, Corpus Methodology, Metaphor, Second Language Acquisition, and Films. Her current research focuses on the metaphoric conceptualization of social issues in political discourse as well as methodological approaches in corpus linguistics. She has taught all levels of Spanish language as well as advanced courses such as Hispanic Linguistics, Conversation and Composition, Culture and Civilization, and Film Studies.
