Crime scene tape and
chalk outlines of bodies on campus does not mean there has been a
crime spree on campus. CSI:UWG is an innovative interdisciplinary
course that introduces entering freshman to forensics and crime
scene investigation. Students will collect evidence, dust for
fingerprints, determine the time of death, identify blood, drugs and
soil types as they apply science and math to solve a series of
staged crimes on campus.
In this Learning Community you will
team up with 24 other students and share a course curriculum for
your first year, including
Biology, Chemistry, and English (08-09 schedules are available in
Web
and
MSWord).
In addition, these students
will register early for
classes and form close-knit friendships in an environment
with a proven track record of earning higher grades.
As part of all
introductory math and science courses, peer-led assistance programs
will give groups of students the opportunity to learn from each
other in problem-solving sessions. Plus, paid summer research
opportunities are available where participating students will
learn research methods, generate and analyze data, and present their
results in a professional symposium.
To enroll in
this Learning Community, apply for the CSI:UWG Learning Community
when you register for
Orientation.
During Orientation Registration you will make a first, second, and
third choice of
First-Year
Programs.
Your choices
will be transmitted electronically to the program coordinator of
your first-choice program. That coordinator will evaluate your
record and either accept you or forward your form to your
second-choice program, and so on.
You will be informed of your
First-Year Program when you arrive for Orientation and check in.
