Pre-Health Course Description

Pre-Health students pose after their poster presentations at an
open symposium held at the end of the semester.

Pre-Health XIDS 2002 Course -
This course is specially designed for Learning Community students to provide career information and interaction with professionals in health related fields.  In addition to gaining hands on experience in different disciplines of sciences, students are exposed to a variety of careers in health sciences.
This course is for first-year students who are considering a career in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, or veterinary medicine.  It is designed to help develop the academic skills needed to succeed as an undergraduate and, eventually, as a medical professional.  Students take a schedule designed to give them a good start toward timely graduation or progress toward professional school.

Student Comments:

“I learned how to work better with others and not just to take all responsibility myself.”

“I found out about the types of careers that I might be interested in and what it takes to achieve the goal of being in that profession.”

“I learned how to use a lot of the resources on campus for research purposes.”

“I learned the important skill of social workmanship in developing a common project.”

“The most important thing for me is the social interaction between the students in the learning community because it allows us to meet new people that we have a lot in common with.”
