In May 2006 the Georgia General Assembly allocated $4.9 million dollars for the construction of an addition to the Callaway Building that will more than double the size of the present building, allowing it to house both the geography and geology programs (faculty, students, labs) of the Department of Geosciences. 

Construction will begin in early 2007 and will take approximately 16 months until completed.

The expanded Callaway Building will include office, instructional, and research space for the faculty, staff, and students of Geosciences, specifically:
 

Physical Geography Research Lab
