Snake Creek Property Owner's Association is coming back from summer vacation! Our first meeting is Thursday, October 1, 7:00 pm, at the Community Center in Clem. Guest speaker will be Sally Bethea, founding director of Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper, a 5,000-member nonprofit environmental advocacy organization established in 1994 whose mission is to protect and restore the Chattahoochee River, its tributaries and watershed. She will give a presentation about drought and water supplies.
The 2007-2008 drought is officially over, but these issues do not wash away in the rain. Lake Seaton (the Snake Creek Reservoir) is on a tributary to the Chattahoochee, and most of southeast Carroll County is part of the Chattahoochee watershed. With the “water wars” heating up again, it is even more important to be thrifty with our water resources. Light refreshments will be served.
