40th Annual Pig Roast ~ September 27, 2008

To Alumni, Friends, Family and the University of West Georgia’s Geosciences Department:

It is that time of the year – time to celebrate the 40th annual pig roast hosted by the UWG Geosciences Club. The celebration will be Saturday, September 27, 2008. All alumni, students, family, and friends are welcome to attend. The festivities will include: horseshoes, volleyball, Frisbee, and plenty of door prizes. Food will be served beginning around 4:00pm. We will have a variety of food in addition to the traditional pig. We will start cooking Friday afternoon and continue to cook until about 4:00pm on Saturday. We hope to see all of the Geoscience alumni.

The Callaway Annex is complete! It is a three story addition built so that the three east facing windows in the Old Callaway Building have been replaced with three hallways between the buildings. It contains a new rock prep lab, sedimentation lab, two lecture halls, office space, two GIS labs, cultural geography lab, water quality lab, and a weather station on the roof. The geography faculty have left the old Geography Building and are settling into their new classrooms, labs, and offices. For the first time all of the Geoscience faculty are in the same building. Tours of the new building will be offered on campus before we eat at 2:00pm and after the pig roast at 5:30pm.

Once again, Dr. and Mrs. Bergstrom have graciously offered their property on Adalee Road to host the annual pig roast. It is required that you leave your pets at home. Directions and a road map are provided with this letter. Tickets will be available at the gate or they can be purchased in advance by contacting Anita Cline at (678) 839-6479 or at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
