Ed.D. in School Improvement

Application Process

The application deadline for Summer 2012 cohort is February 15, 2012 (the application cycle begins on November 1, 2011). Your complete application packet should be submitted to the Graduate School by the deadline date by 5:00 p.m. Only complete application packets that are submitted on time will be considered. Please allow 7-10 business days for processing your application. Check your application status online at www.westga.edu/~gradsch/ by clicking on How to Apply (item #9).   1. Non-refundable $30.00 application fee (paid one time only).

  2. Applicants must have a graduate degree in Education from an accredited institution and Level 5 certification or equivalent.

  3. A cumulative minimum graduate GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required. One official transcript from each college or university attended to complete graduate degree(s). If you attended the University of West Georgia, the Graduate School will request a copy of this transcript for you.

  4. Testing - A minimum composite GRE score of at least 1000. Official test scores with at least a minimum verbal score of 450 and a minimum quantitative or analytical score of 450 (for tests taken prior to October 2002) are required. Applicants submitting test scores taken after October 2002 will need to submit verbal and quantitative scores and a GRE analytical writing test score. Please understand that the Millers Analogies Test (MAT) will not be acceptable for admission into the Ed.D. in School Improvement program.

  5. A 500-750 word essay that presents your personal goals related to school improvement and how this program can help accomplish them.

  6. Three strong recommendations are required, using the attached form*. Letters of recommendation should be obtained from individuals (not faculty members) who can speak to your work in school improvement in sealed, signed envelopes.

  7. A vitae listing education and employment history, experiences with school improvement, and awards and recognitions, current mailing and email addresses must be included. Applicants must have three years of public/private school experience and indicate this on the vitae.

  8. Applicants must return a signed acknowledgment of the Ed.D. in School Improvement Mission Statement*

  9. Ed.D. Academic Honor Form*

  10. Satisfactory Certificate of Immunization* (New Students Only). This form must be sent directly to the Department of Health Services. Please contact the Department of Health Services at 678-839-6452 should you have any questions.

PLEASE NOTE:  After your complete application has been received by the Graduate School Office, it will be sent to the Director of the Ed.D. program. Applicants will be invited to campus for a required orientation session and asked to complete a writing sample responding to a school improvement prompt.
