Application Process

Step 1 – Online Application

Complete the online application for admission to graduate studies. You will receive a confirmation message indicating that your application has been submitted.

Submit your $30.00 non-refundable application fee by check, money order, or credit card to the University of West Georgia. Call the UWG Admissions Office (678-839-4000) for more details.

Step 2 – Official Transcripts

Request official transcripts from each institution you have attended. Transcripts should be mailed directly to the UWG Admissions Office. If a transcript is mailed to you, it cannot be treated as official if it has been opened. Should transcripts be mailed to you, forward them to the UWG Admissions Office in their original, sealed envelopes.

Step 3 – Program Specific Requirements

Most programs have additional admissions requirements. Visit the program websites or contact the Graduate Studies Associate in your College or the School of Nursing for more information about program specific admissions requirements.

Step 4 – Graduate Entrance Exam

Contact the Graduate Studies Associate in your College or the School of Nursing before scheduling a graduate entrance exam, because admissions requirements differ by program. Some programs do not require a graduate entrance exam.

After confirming the name of the exam which is required for your program, schedule the graduate entrance exam . It is recommended that the exam be taken 6 weeks prior to the application deadline to insure adequate time for processing. Exam scores will be reported directly to the UWG Admissions Office.

Use the institution code #5900 for the University of West Georgia for the GRE, GMAT, and TOEFL. Applicants taking the MAT should use the institution code #2376. International students have the option of taking the IELTS exam as well.

A photocopy of your personal exam results may be submitted to the UWG Admissions Office to verify that the exam was taken; however, official test results must be received from the testing agency (e.g., Educational Testing Service, Psychological Corporation, or Graduate Management Admissions Council) before your file will be considered complete.

Step 5 – Proof of Immunization

After you are admitted, you will be required to show proof of Immunization. This is a Georgia Board of Regents policy. For more information and instructions, please go to http://www.westga.edu/~health/ or call 678-839-6452.

Send your Certificate of Immunization directly to the UWG Department of Health Services. You will find the mailing address on the certificate. Do not send the certificate to the UWG Admissions Office.
