Out-of-State Tuition Waivers

The University of West Georgia does not offer any type of financial assistance specifically targeted for international students. However, international student applicants are able to apply for a limited number of graduate research assistantships and graduate assistantships. Please understand that there is no guarantee that an applicant will receive an assistantship. In addition, a limited number of out-of-state tuition waivers are available to international students. For more information about these waivers, please see "Out-of-State Tuition Waivers below. A limited number of out-of-state tuition waivers are also available to domestic students who are legal residents outside of the state of Georgia.

Out-of-State Tuition Waivers: Domestic and international student applicants accepted into the Graduate School as full-time degree-seeking students may apply for a limited number of out-of-state tuition waivers. Applicants with demonstrated superior academic ability are invited to apply for a waiver of the non-resident portion of tuition. To be considered for a waiver you must meet the following minimum requirements:

Minimum Test Score Requirements:

  • TOEFL* - 550 (paper-based test) - 213 (computer-based test)
  • TOEFL iBT* - 79-80
  • GMAT - 480
  • GRE - 450 (Verbal, Quantitative and/or Analytical sections - Test Date prior to October 2002. Those taking the GRE after this date will need to submit this requirement for the Verbal and Quantitative sections only).

*Applicants must submit an analytical writing test score for the GMAT and GRE as well.

Students receiving this waiver will be required to maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 (the grade point average is calculated based upon the number of hours completed at the time of the application for the waiver).
