Professional Learning Classes

These classes provide state approved professional learning credit that is required for recertification, new ideas for teaching science, and activities that meet the Georgia Performance Standards (GPS).

Emphasis is on utilizing hands-on activities in the classroom to reinforce the curriculum content. Some courses integrate science and math with other areas of the curriculum, such as mathematics, reading, language arts, social studies, or art. Participating teachers receive PLU's, activity handouts, and sometimes manipulatives.

Courses are offered at the West GYSTC location for schools of the member systems: Carroll, Haralson, and Paulding Counties and the Carrollton and Bremen City systems. Courses may be arranged at member schools upon request. There are only nominal fees charged to teachers from member systems for these classes. Non-member teachers are charged $50 per PLU.
