Programs of Study
The History Department offers three types of M.A. programs, two graduate certificates, and a wide variety of graduate courses:

(1) an M.A. in History with Thesis option

(2) an M.A. in History with Non-thesis option

(3) an M.A. in History with a concentration in Public History This concentration in Public History prepares students for careers in museums, historical societies, archives, and other public history venues. (4) Museum Studies Certificate

(5) Public History Certificate

Upon entering the graduate program at the University of West Georgia, our graduate students declare major and minor fields based on their degree program. Our major fields of study include: (1) U.S. History, (2) Southern History, (3) Early Modern and Modern Europe, (4) Comparative Global History, and (5) Public History. With approval, minor fields may include an independent concentration in an area chosen by the student and his or her graduate advisor.
