The Honors College sponsors many activities for
its students, as well as the entire student body
of West Georgia. Below are just a few of the offerings
of the Honors College.
Honors Council
The student governing body within the Honors College, the Honors Council controls the budget for all other Honors activities. Made up of students in official, elected positions, the Honors Council meets once a month; meetings are open to all Honors students. For more information contact the Honors Council President, Charles Bauch. cbauch1@my.westga.edu
Back-to-School Cookout
Come join as we celebrate the beginning of another year! All Honors students and Faculty are invited to attend a cookout on Thursday August 20th, 2009 at 6:00pm on the patio at the Honors House.
Fall Banquet
Held each year, the Fall Banquet allows professors to speak directly to Honors students in an informal environment about upcoming offerings within the Honors college. The banquet provides a great opportunity for students to get to know their professors and other Honor students on a personal level. This year it will be on Thursday, October 8, 2009 at 6:30pm in the Campus Center Ballroom.
Spring Cookout
Every spring the Honors Council plans and hosts a cookout, inviting all Honors students and faculty. The cookout is held outside of the Honors House and serves as a "winding down" for the year. Students and faculty gather to celebrate another year passed and to socialize together.
Washington, D.C. Trip
Taken over Spring Break, the Washington, D.C. Trip has been an annual event since before the founding of the Honors College. Lead by Dr. Wagner, the Dean of the Honors College, the trip is free, except for meals. All Honors students are invited to come to our Nation's capital; better than most trips, this one includes time to meet Georgia's congressional representatives as well as learn from the faculty who attend. Non-Honors students who have taken American Government (POLS 1101) in either the fall or spring semester are also eligible for the trip.
*Due to Budget constraints, the Honors College was unable to sponsor this trip in 2009. At this time it is unlikely that we will travel in 2010.
