Presidential Scholarships

Incoming First Year Honors students are eligible to receive West Georgia’s most prestigious awards, Presidential Scholarships. Every year we award 8 incoming honors students with a $4,500 per year award, which is renewable for up to 3 additional years as long as the student maintains eligibility.

In order to be considered for this award, you must be eligible for the Honors College. You need to meet 2 of 3 criteria:

- Overall High School GPA of at least 3.5

- 1200 on your SAT Composite (traditional verbal & math sections only) OR a 26 on   ACT Composite

- 610 on your SAT Verbal OR 27 on ACT English

Due to the small number of Presidential Scholarships, this process is VERY Competitive, and we recommend that interested students apply very early! Please go to the Admissions website and apply today for entrance to the University of West Georgia and then send in your Honors College application (link to honors application).

All accepted UWG incoming first years who are eligible for the Honors College are considered for Presidential Scholarships. Students with exceptional qualifications will be contacted and interviews will be arranged. Decisions are typically made after March 1st each year.
*Students typically need a 4.0 GPA and at least a 1350 SAT Critical Reading and Math in order to receive and invitation to interview for these awards.

Foundation Scholarships

On March 10, 2010, more than $50,000 worth of scholarships will be awarded to incoming freshman students. The Foundation Scholarship Program is a two-tiered competitive scholarship program for new students. There will be 10 awards at the $3,000 level and 10 awards at the $2,000 level. These awards are not to be combined with any additional institutional scholarships and are not renewable; however they can be combined with the HOPE Scholarship. In order to be eligible to compete for these, you must apply and have been accepted to UWG by February 1, 2010.
