Is junkmail cluttering your Inbox? Well, thanks to a new effort by ITS, SPAM may not trouble you again! Utilizing an intuitive new product called "PureMessage", ITS hopes to help you regain control of your Inbox by safely identifying and quarantining more than 98% of spam.
How Does It Work?
PureMessage is basically a mail filtering system that runs on the email server - it removes SPAM, before it gets to your Inbox. If a message is perceived to be SPAM, the message will be held in Quarantine. Every four hours, PureMessage generates a "digest" to users who have quarantined SPAM. This digest will include a list all of your quarantined SPAM.
Sample Digest from PureMessage
The following messages were quarantined by PureMessage because they appear to
be spam. By replying to this email, you can automatically release some or all
of the messages. Delete the lines from the reply for those messages you don't
want approved.

Help! I Need That Quarantined Message!
If you feel a particular message is NOT SPAM, you may release it to be delivered to your Inbox. With most email clients, such as Microsoft Outlook, simply click on the message ID to accomplish this. To release all of your quarantined messages or if you are unable to click on the message ID, simply reply to the PureMessage digest. If you opt not to release the messages they will remain quarantined for about 30 days, after which they will be permanently deleted.
Any messages that you release are delivered to your inbox within about 20
minutes. They will have [PMX:###] in the subject line, to help you identify them.
WEBMAIL USERS: You must reply to the PureMesage digest to release your
messages. You will NOT be able to click the message id.

Using PureMessage with Existing Junkmail Filters
If you notice that you never receive a digest AND if you are using Microsoft Outlook and the "Junk Email" feature, you may need to remove the PureMessage email address from the junkmail senders list.
For example, when you enable the "Junk E-Mail" filter or "Adult Content" filter in Microsoft Outlook, an "Exception List" rule is automatically created that exempts specific addresses from these filters. To edit the exception list, select Tools | Rules Wizard, and add the "From" address on your quarantine digest to the exception list.
