1972 – current State University of West Georgia Positions within the
Information Technology Services Dept Assistant Director of Networking (1997 to current) § Responsible for management, development and operation of the campus data and telecommunications network that includes network servers, routers, switches, structured cabling systems, telephone systems, and video distribution system. Some key accomplishments include managing the implementation of Cat 5 structured cabling systems and Cisco switches in all UWG residence halls, implementation of a new campus backbone router, managed implementation of a network firewall and security systems, and assisted in the expansion of the emergency phone system on campus. Supervise 3 to 5 full-time staff. Assistant Dir of Operations and Technical Support (1984 to 1997) § Responsible for management, support and operation of the central site mission critical servers, data communications and networking devices, and structured cabling systems. Some key accomplishments include implementation of UWG’s first local area networks (token ring & ethernet), implementation and support of UNIX based financial and student record application systems, implementation of UWG’s first email and web server systems, and helped manage the implementation of UWG’s fiber optic and structured cabling systems. Supervised 8 full-time staff. Systems Support Specialist (1973 to 1984) § Responsible for support, systems programming and operation of the campus information and data communications systems which included IBM compatible mainframes, an asynchronous switched data communications network with 3270 protocol converters, and Cincom’s Environ/1 and Total transaction and data management systems. Applications Programmer (1972 to 1973) § Responsible for writing records management programs utilizing languages such as PL1, Easytrieve and IBM 360 Assembler. |
