Gifts and Out-of-Print Materials

Gifts

Gifts are an important complement to our collection. We welcome gifts of books and journals and possibly other library materials that are appropriate for our collection. Copies of works by faculty are particularly appreciated.

Please call the Head of Acquisitions to review your donation:(678)839-6498. We will attempt to learn as much as possible about the materials offered. If the materials do not appear appropriate for the collection as defined in our collection policies, we may suggest other libraries for the donor to contact.

If we accept a donation, we clearly state to the donor that we may not add all the materials to our collection and that we will attempt to donate items we do not need to other area institutions. Donated items may be distributed throughout the library's collection according to established criteria.

The IRS does not allow us to appraise gift donations. Donors who plan to include their gifts in income tax deductions must submit a list of items with the author, title, and price of each item.

We acknowledge in writing all donations of materials. University Development is also notified of donations.

A donation of $2,500 to University Development provides funding, in perpetuity, for the annual purchase and processing of a library book to be placed in the Ingram Library. Funds for this gift may be pledged over a four-year period with the first book being placed when the $2,500 has been received. A $75 gift will provide for a onetime book purchase. The honoree's name, as well as the donor's name will be appropriately designated in the front of the book. You may call University Development at (678)839-6582.

Out-of-Print Materials

The Library normally does not purchase or replace out-of-print materials unless they are deemed standards in the field and important to the collection. In this case, out-of-print vendors are used and the item is purchased, if available at a reasonable price.
