Theses and Research Projects
State University of West Georgia
Cataloging
Cataloging Department support staff completes the descriptive cataloging
of a research project or thesis on a workform. A cataloger adds subject
headings. A student worker enters the workform into OCLC and places in a
"save" file. The head cataloger will validate and edit, if necessary,
before adding to the OCLC database.
Theses and research projects, except Art Department projects, are classed
together in LD by year and then by author. A hybrid Library of Congress classification number was
established many years ago and will continue to be used in order to keep
the materials together. The creative research projects from the Art
Department are classed in: NX405.C3 W4 year $b .author cutter.
