Document Delivery: FAQ's
- HOW SOON WILL I GET MY MATERIALS?
-
We make every effort to get materials to you as quickly as possible. Requests
will usually be filled on the same day they are received, and the preferred
delivery methods are electronic delivery for photocopies and Campus Mail
for books. The maximum response time will be 2 business days.
- HOW DO I PLACE REQUESTS?
-
First check the Ingram Library catalog to be sure that we own the items you need. Second, register with ILLiad if you haven't already. ILLiad is designed to put you in control of your account and to help us serve you better!
To register as a new user in the ILLiad system, go to First Time Users Register Here. Follow the instructions to establish your account and place requests. When you place your requests in ILLiad, be sure to scroll down until you see the buttons for Document Delivery Services requests.
- WHAT'S THE CATCH?
-
There's only one: this service is cheap but not free. Because it requires additional staff, the Library, although able to subsidize some of the costs of Document Delivery, must recover a portion of the expense involved in providing the service.
The charge for delivery of a book to a campus address is $1.50. If you need delivery by mail to an off-campus address, there is an additional 1st Class postage charge of $4.00 per book (If the requestor is permanently assigned off-campus, however, there is no additional charge for postage). To have items mailed to you off campus, you will need to specify this in the Notes field when you request the item or email/call the Department. The fee for articles delivered electronically to your desktop is $1.00 per article requested plus 10 cents per page.
- HOW DO I PAY?
-
You may have charges billed to your Library account just like books--in which case they will be handled in a manner similar to overdue charges (you will receive periodic computer-generated notices and be required to clear your account at the end of each academic year).
