Grade Appeals Policy
Faculty teaching LIBR1101 are expected to be familiar with and follow the
State University of West Georgia grade appeals process. Policies and
procedures related to grade appeals are included in the
State University of
West
Georgia Faculty Handbook, Sections 208.01-208.03 and 208.05, and
the
State University of West Georgia Student Handbook, Appendix E.
The
Student
Grade Appeal Form delineates each step of the process.
Any student questioning a final course grade in LIBR1101 should direct the
initial inquiry to his/her LIBR1101 instructor. If the student indicates
his/her intention to proceed with a formal grade appeal after discussion
with the instructor, the instructor should advise the student of the
appeals process as outlined in the State University of West Georgia
Student Handbook, Appendix E and inform the student that an appeal must be
decided no later than the semester after the appealed grade was assigned
(UWG Faculty Handbook, Section 208.02). The student is responsible for
initiating the formal appeal process.
Although not required by UWG policies, it is highly recommended that the
faculty member, department head, and Library Director respond to the
appeal in writing at the appropriate level of the appeals process.
