LIBRARY INSTRUCTION

MISSION STATEMENT

The Library Instruction faculty strive to teach students and faculty how to identify, evaluate, and use library resources to meet their research needs.

The Library Instruction faculty work to accomplish their mission through:

  • Library Instruction Sessions. Basic library instruction is provided through 30-minute sessions on a variety of topics. University faculty may request instructional presentations for upper division and graduate level courses on sources pertinent to a discipline or a class assignment. For additional information, see the Library Instruction Policy. Additionally, a Research Tutorial for ENGL1101/COMM1110 and General Information Topics is available electronically.

  • Library Research Course, LIBR1101, Academic Research and the Library, is taught each semester and is open to all undergraduate students.

  • Library Orientation Visits. In accordance with established library policy, special advanced arrangements may be made for instructional tours for non-UWG affiliated groups. For additional information, see Library Instruction Policy.

  • Staff development programs, which are designed to meet the needs of the University faculty and staff, are scheduled periodically.
