The Web allows you to access most types of information on the Internet through a
browser. One of the main features of the Web is
the ability to quickly link to other related information. It is important to note that neither the Internet, nor the Web constitutes
as source, it is simply a method of access. While you will need to include your access point when you cite material, you must also include the source.
When citing an article you got through GALILEO, it is not enough to say that you accessed it from http://www.galileo.usg.edu, you must also cite the index within GALILEO, and the actual
source itself, e.g. journal article.
Use the Web
- to find current news and information
- to link to information provided by the library over the Internet
- to find information about companies
- to find information from all levels of government
- to find both expert and popular opinions
Examples of Web Addresses
- lcweb.loc.gov (The Library of Congress)
- www.hotbot.com (HotBot, a search engine)
- www.westga.edu (The University of West Georgia)
