1Any time I have ever needed any kind of assistance for research or otherwise I have always recieved it post haste. Thank you very much.
1As a Biology Major, many research journals are not accessible through this library. I have had to use ILL for almost everyone of my upper-level research papers. That's not to say that I don't find a lot of material to use, but that I usually find something I could use that isn't accessible through our library and have to use ILL. I understand that there is a lot of information out there, It just seems that you don't have access to the one's that I need. I will say that those journals which you do have are covered very well. Most articles include pictures of graphs and figures which are separate from the text. This makes it easy for them to be incorporated into presentations.
1Awesome
1Everything is fine so far.
1Galileo is confusing!!! I always have so much trouble attempting to find articles.
1Good Job
1I believe the library here at west ga is great.
1I feel comfortable there, which is a good thing.
1I feel that the computers in the library should have microsoft words, because in the other labs silence is not required; however, in the library people are quite and it provides a better atmosphere to type papers, but the computers do not have microsoft word on them.
1I feel that the library should allow for later study time. This would not necessarly mean that all resources are available at these times just a quit area to go study.
1I find the library personell to be very personable and helpful. This is true both at the circulation desk and at the reference area. I am grateful for the many resources found in the library. I try to check out at least one book or film every week for personal enjoyment, if my class schedule permits me the time.
1I go to the library very frequently in order to study in between classes. I started out going on the main level to one of the isolation desks, then I noticed that people would distract me. I then discovered that the third floor was a good place to study. I noticed the signs that say NO TALKING everywhere. I have come to the conclusion though that If you cannot read, you do not need to be in the library. Apparently, over half the people that go to the third floor, including the library staff, cannot read. People will sit there adn have conversations on their cell phones, study sessions, and just conversations. There is also the problem of the staff or faculty holding conversations that is very distracting.
1I have had difficulty in accessing articles from computers away from UWG.
1I stopped using the library some time ago because every time I went in looking for something I had an extremely hard time finding what I needed. There were many times when I could not find any one to assist me and when I did they often did little to help me locate items. It has been a while since I went back, so things may have changed, but the frustrations were enough to keep me away. I find it frustrating to find items online.
1I think that the working hours of the library should be changed. Many students want to study on Friday and Saturday after 6 pm and on Sunday morning but the library is closed. No student can study in the "quite lounge" located in the food court in UCC. This idea is ridiculous. Plus, there is TV sets in almost every building of the university, including the "quite lounge". The library is the only place students can study hard. As soon as there is no other place for studying it should be opened more hours a week. Thanks.
1I think the library is great. I just think they should up grade the furniture to a more modern college feel, something a little more comfortable.
1I think the library needs more circulating books, more periodicals, and more electronic journal resources. An electronic searchable tool for periodical indexes would also be nice. It's a pain to dig through years of indexes in order to find an article.
1I think we need more computers and more printers. Also, at Georgia State University, they give each student an allotment of print outs and after that they had to pay for them. I think this would be great since some people run out of money on their card or some people don't ever put money on their card and this would be useful for print out emergencies or something!
1I would just commend the library on it's utilization of technology; it is excellent - perhaps some of the most impressive use of technology on the entire campus, in the sense that it focuses on usefulness, simplicity, and is mindful of the library's service mission (vs. just implementing technology for the sake of technology). In particular, the library website is quite useful, and is in fact one of the few websites at UWG that actually contains *information* (unlike the "list of links" style of the UWG homepage). Also, the library is doing an excellent job of providing online resources and databases and in making them available off-campus. Keep up the good work!!
1Interlibrary loan is a long process and I realize it is due to the large numbers of requests. The online databases are absolutely wonderful, it seems as though there would be more databases that would cover more of the needs that we have to send to ILL. Are there any others the library could subscribe to? I would also love for all of the journals available at the library to be online, since we will be copying them anyway due to the no check out policy. I am aware that this is also easier said than done.
1Interlibrary loan is very helpful.
1It seems like everytime I try to get a periodical, it has to be done electronically and I hate having to do that. It takes too long and it seems like ALL the periodicals are only electronic. However, that is the only complaint that I have. The people at the reference desk is very friendly and helpful!
1It would be more helpful if the library computers had the programs students need to complete assignments. It would also be good if there were computers where we could make last minute corrections on an assignment before we printed them out.
1Later hours are necessary. Weekend hours should be longer especially on Saturday.
1let us take home newspapers.
1longer hours. do not close at 8. our classes last until 8, if we need to check out materials we cannot do this after class. stay open until at least 830
1Longer operation hours. Not just during exams. Most big universities have all night libraries. Why don't we?
1n/a
1Need to be able to work on papers ont he regualr computers from WebCT access Word.
2none
1overall good
1People should be banned from using cell phones throughout the entire library. There have been several times that I have been studying at the computers and some girl next to me is talking loudly about their sex lives or other nonimportant things. I'm seriously sick of this. You can contact me at cadon@uga.edu if you want.
1Personally, I would like more Orson Scott Card (fiction) available, as well as more books in the area of martial arts, and other special interests
1Please place word processing programs on the computers.
1Stay open longer.
1The biggest problem with the Library is that If I am doing research for a paper. I can't go to the computers in the Library to write my paper because the computers do not have Microsoft Word, that is weird.
1The book collection and articles is unsatisfactory.
1The computers on the main floor need to be equipped with a fully functioning MSWord program, not just WordViewer. Twice I have come to print my essay, noticed a typo, and been unable to correct the paper there. I had to leave and go to a computer lab. VERY inconvenient.
1The Libraries staff needs to have better knowledge about their search engines inorder to help students with their research.
1The library assistant helpers are that useful.
1The library hours needs to be extended to at least 11pm
1the library needs to b open longer especially at night. There is no other quiet place to go on campus to study after 10. It gets loud at apartments most of the time and that makes it difficult to study later at home.
1The library needs to be upgraded. I feel like i'm stuck in the 60's with these orange, white, and brown colors.
1The main suggestion I have for the library is better technology. The computers are very old and sometimes very slow. Most of the other computer labs on campus are new and run well.
1The medical and biological materials are not really up to date. Some subscriptions to things online are not up to date either. For nursing and biology majors there isnt much information in the library that we can't get out of our own books. I did a project on cystic fibrosis and couldnt find barely anything on the topic in the school library.
1The vision lab is very difficult to find, cramped and not suitable for wheelchair users. The psychology, disability and women's collections need to be expanded. If I've had to buy several books because the library does not have what I need.
1To include microsoft word on the computers. To extend the hours. 10pm is tooo early for the library to close.
1We need Microsoft office on all computers, research or not the computers need office.
1We need more scientific journals, or at least more online subcriptions to the most popular journals.
1We should be able to type papers on the library computers. We shouldn't have to do our research in the library and then go to another building to type it out.
1Well there should be all kinds of books available like romance, fiction, murder mystery..etc, And they should have a bigger lounge section and then the group studying also should be bigger... The noise outside the library also gets very VERY distracting and it wouldn't hurt to have more benches outside of the library too tables etc to work on when it is nice weather
1Would like to have more nursing information available. Many items used for class papers, I cannot find, but have found most at interlibrary loan.
