Information about Library Computers
- Does the Library have computers that can be used for
research?
Yes, the Library has several research computers available in the Reference Area on the main
floor of the Library.
- What types of information can I get on the
computers?
The computers include numerous research databases that can be used to
search for information in books, government documents, periodicals (magazine,
newspaper and scholarly journal), and a variety of other information. The
computers also include direct links to several internet search engines.
- Do I have to sign up to use a computer?
No, you do not have to sign up to use the Library computers.
- Can I print from the Library computers?
Yes, you can print from the Library computers. A copy card is required to print from the
computers. The cost is 10 cents per page.
- Is there a computer lab in the Library?
No, the library does not have a computer lab, but there are several computer labs on
campus. For information on computer labs, see Lab

- Does the Library have computers with word processing
capabilities for me to type my term paper?
No, the Library computers are set up for research and do not contain
word processing programs. Various computer labs on campus have word
processing available. For a list of the labs and the software available
in them, go to Lab Information
, and select the lab in which you are interested.

GALILEO
- What is GALILEO?
GALILEO is a virtual library developed through an intiative of the
University System of Georgia. GALILEO stands for Georgia
Library Learning Online. Through GALILEO, you have
access to multiple information sources. For more information about
GALILEO, go to GALILEO and
click on About GALILEO.
- Can I access GALILEO from a remote site (home,
apartment, etc.)?
Yes, you can. Some of the databases are
available to the public, but some databases require a password.
- How do I get the GALILEO password?
For information on how to obtain the GALILEO password, go to
Accessing
Your Account and follow the directions listed there. Keep in mind, you
must be enrolled as a student at UWG to obtain the GALILEO password.
The GALILEO password changes each semester.
