Governors Message!
Mar. 8, 2007
August 30, 2005 Dear District 18E
Our 2005-2006 year has just begun and wow does it look busy. I am looking forward to meeting with each club this year and again next year. Our challenges are many, tough, tiring but not unattainable. Governor Harry’s motto “Grow the Spirit” continues along with the same theme as PDG Tom Morton and I believe there is no sense in reinventing the wheel so my motto for 2006/2007 will be to “Enhance the Spirit”. Our goals will be simple but tough:
- Continue to improve communication with each club and the other 5 districts in Georgia and Lions International.
- Continue to improve our web page to a point that all needed forms are available there.
- Continue to create fun time at each Cabinet meeting.
- Develop at least 2 new LEO and 2 new Lions Clubs in our district.
- Utilize our Guiding Lions more in our MERL program.
- Work more with the women of Lions and Lioness to gain Clubs and recognition.
- Ask our Club Presidents and our Past District Governors to work together on a total community multi-club initiative to inform communities about Lionism. We need a program that is flexible yet informative about Lions Clubs the Presidents can use in their community.
Our challenges are many but NOT unattainable. Together we are the “Knights of the Blind” and as Knights we will continue to fight the problems of sight, insure our Camp for the Blind remains successful and growing, our Lighthouse continues, the ability to assist SE Guide Dogs, Canine Companions, Recording for the Blind & Dyslectic, LCIF, and the many others who need assistance will know they have a friend in a Lions vest to turn to in the time of need. Thank you for allowing Marlene and me to serve the Lions of District 18E. Thank you for all you do every day.
Steve Humphry, VDG 18E
