Darterpedia is a wiki web site that, it is hoped, will facilitate a community of darter researchers to create and maintain a knowledge database of darter biology. The wiki software allows users to easily create and edit web pages using a web browser. In context of this darter genomics site, it is hoped that researchers will use the Darterpedia wiki to claim one or more species as their research objective, collaborate with other researchers in characterizing the genomic sequences of a species or a group of species, contribute the gene sequence data to the community and collaborate in the analysis of sequence data to help elucidate darter phylogeny. To become involved in this collaborative effort, please go to the Darterpedia web site by clicking on the Darterpedia logo above and register according to the instructions on the site. The Darterpedia is set up to be a democratically operated site -  there is no Darterpedia "Czar" in charge of the site. The "system administrator" of the site is currently Leos Kral at the University of West Georgia and he is responsible for the initial organization of the site and the initial "rules" by which the site is to be managed. It is hoped that long term "rules" of site management will soon evolve by community consensus.
