| These peristalsis animations were designed for a non-majors freshman
biology class and used during lecture. The first animation shows how constriction of a
tube (esophagus) causes food particles to be pushed through the tube. The second animation
shows that the constriction of the tube is caused by a wave of muscle contraction (red)
