Process Assignment – Discussion Leaders

Each pair is responsible for kicking off class discussion on the day for which you have signed up. After the usual reading quiz, I will expect you to lead the first 15 minutes of discussion for the day. Don’t just come in with one question; you will need a series of related questions, or a central question and a batch of follow-up questions, or an activity… Be innovative. Feel free to call on your classmates, bring props, use visual aids, you name it – anything that generates enthusiastic discussion about the reading.

Half of your grade for this assignment will assess depth of thought, organization, and grasp of the relevant ideas. The other half will assess how effectively you get the class involved.

Please note: If you choose to use visual aids, all the usual rules about giving clear credit to your sources in essays apply to posters, powerpoints, handouts, etc. Quotes should be in quotations marks, sources should be clearly stated (and college-level), and it should be clear what material comes from which sources (in other words, use in-text citations and not just a Works Cited).
