Peer Editing

 

1. Read the introduction. Identify the thesis statement.

·       Is it clear?

·       Does it make a contestable, interpretive claim?

·       Can you suggest ways of pushing the thesis further or making it more nuanced?

 

2. Read each main body paragraph.

·       Does the paragraph make a unified argument?

·       Does the paragraph effectively support the thesis statement?

·       Does the paragraph demonstrate insightful attention to detail in its choice of illustrations?

·       Does the paragraph delve beneath the surface of the material? Does it change the way you see the text(s)?

 

3.   Read the conclusion.

·         Does it recap the central argument?

·         Does it reflect on the significance of the argument?

 

4. Are there sentences or ideas that you find unclear?

 

5. Do you see any grammatical errors, repetitive vocabulary, or overly informal words?

 

6. Do you see any errors in MLA format or citation style?
